Liberty University Facilities Thread
I figured we needed a thread devoted to facility upgrades.

The Vines Center is getting a new roof.

On campus indoor tennis facility.

"The 75,000-square-foot facility will feature six courts and seating for 100 fans. The building will also house locker rooms, a team room, a laundry facility and a concessions area. The construction project is expected to be completed in January 2021. The cost is estimated at approximately $5 million."

The new roof for the Vines Center is long overdue. The new one looks great! Hopefully with our logo there, it will keep us from changing the logo for a long time.

Even if I would rather the big donation to go to almost any sport besides tennis, the new building looks great.

RE: Liberty University Facilities Thread
Since this is a new thread for facilities, I wanted to bring up something that is being discussed but not official. According to McCaw, they are also thinking of establishing a indoor softball field. As I mentioned before, it was just mentioned in an interview by McCaw. Dont take this as 100% accurate. All I know is that we must be thinking if going into a better conference because all these upgrades would be a waste(sort of). McCaw did mention doing a study of qualifications on the AAC as mentioned before. Are all these upgrades on facilities a coincidence?

P.S. We should be doing the same for academia. Just saying.

For real, where is all this stuff going? I know there is some space by the current tennis facility. The campus is long and narrow. We’ve already started expanding across 460 into the hills. North campus has the most space. Pretty much east and up is the only way to develop.... without overcrowding and ruining the aesthetics.

They will need to and we may have a period of more construction like during the 2013(or 14)-2016 period. Of course it'll be an issue building since they'll need city council approval(hardheads lol).

I am skeptical that we are doing this due to a conference making demands/suggestions to us for membership. It's possible we inquired to conferences and this was some feedback from them though I don't know why softball and tennis would be on the list. If I were the AAC, I'd need Liberty to improve football and basketball attendance and potentially get a higher number of viewers on broadcasts (though I don't know the numbers or how LU compares). If it is another conference, I imagine it is non-football and they care most about men's basketball so it still doesn't make sense. Maybe it's a northern conference and needs conference games during poor weather so we would reliably provide that with an indoor softball field.

I think we need to build upwards with dorms and academic buildings. Then move east up the mountain. Don't we have a second campus being built out towards the west side of Lynchburg or was that just talk?

I think we should concentrate undergraduate studies on the "main" campus and build up a second campus for post-graduate studies. Give the undergrads the traditional college experience and the serious students away from the distractions.

There is one building located on the graduate campus. The last we heard about this project was in 2016 and they postponed any projects there. They also needed to level that land, so they have been transporting dirt from other projects up there(not sure if they've been doing that for awhile). I think the parking garage and arena needs to be completed until we get word of other future projects. I for one hope that they begin building more dormitory, academic and some commercial buildings to grow the student population. It will really make a difference for the future of the school and not depend so much on the online program(which could have some improvements as well).

I too want more on-campus students. Residential undergrads are the most loyal future supporters. They make up the majority of donations, sporting game attendees, etc. We need to catch up to other schools and adding residential students is the fastest way to achieve it. By getting them here, getting them to buy into the school is important for future support.

It isn’t going to be an indoor field. They’re working on an indoor practice facility. It will be more of a hitting and pitching (batting cages) type of facility.

We are. You just don’t here as much about it in here because it’s sports focused.

I know of a few programs seeking to expand and develop, several in the School of Music, and one in the Technical Studies.

I am sure there are others that I am unaware of.

You are correct. I should've been more explanatory on that statement

I understand this, but I'm also talking about the more valid department such as the sciences, engineering, law, medicine/ nursing, and probably later we add agricultural subjects plus architecture. Also, I am referring more to graduate school. I do hope they put a big focus on that graduate campus and add about 7-10 schools to grow our research and scholar developed graduates. Furthermore a hospital would be a huge benefit for this area so that this area do not have to depend on UVA for a great hospital. We want to be one of the best, so let's actually do it. It will take time yes, but it seem like these ideas were not taken as serious(I could be wrong). We have to spend money in these categories in order to get repetitive donations and funds from graduates and future graduates.

P.S. we have a better advantage than most schools who took half a a century to even fund their campus growth. Just a thought.

I heard that the LFC was supposed have an opening presentation this week or next week; was cancelled for obvious reason. In this video, you can see Coach Freeze is sitting in the inside if the facility:

Will they still continue the project of Phase 2? Who knows.

Do;t they already have this in the clubhouse or are they trying to have a more spacious facility? Also, where will this facility be placed?
