Yeah, even CBS/NBC/ABC/FOX might not be able to film their big fall shows.

CBS airs reality gameshow Big Brother 3 nights a week in the summer, and it looks extremely unlikely that season will happen. Forget all the staffers needed for operations, just to cast the season they’d need to fly 50 or so people to LA for finals to pick the cast, and that’s not doable.

FOXSC is re-airing Hurricanes games, last night I got to relive the David Ayres story.... it was great.

I may be asking a stupid question here but why not show old ESPN bowl games? You have what 30-40 bowl games a year? Why not show them again? I think people are desperate enough to watch the 2007 New Orleans bowl. Also I don't mind watching old bowling tournaments myself.

Games like 1997 Nebraska-Missouri, 2000 Independence Bowl and 2001 Nebraska-Colorado (fall of Nebraska’s dynasty) aired on ESPN or ABC. Those would be good ones to replay.

That’s not necessarily true. Classic game archives are generally owned by the sports leagues themselves even if they were produced by ESPN.

Now, if you want to ask why the networks and sports leagues haven’t figured out deals quickly enough, that’s a totally fair question. However, the point is that ESPN (and other networks, for that matter) can’t necessarily just ramp up replays of classic games as easily as fans may believe.

To be sure, the best library that ESPN does actually control over is their 30 for 30 documentaries. That’s probably going to what they’ll rely upon to fill more airtime over anything else. (I’m fairly certain that those docs get better ratings than classic games as a general matter. I love classic games as a hardcore sports fan, but I think people like me are a niche audience compared to the wider audiences for the documentaries.)

They were showing classic basketball games a couple days ago. I guess I assumed a deal would have been done for the bowl games. I'm wondering though if a old bowl game would get more ratings then a few hours of sports center. If they wanted to spread out from bowl games maybe expand the talk to FCS conferences and lower divisions.(D2 and D3 semifinals and finals were taped) I guess it might have to do with money. How much would ESPN have to pay to re-air bowl games and/or playoffs. I'd like to eventually like to see something like the "best" of ESPN+ which shows random games from ESPN plus. Though it would depend on how much ESPN would have to pay.

There was a time when ESPN, on Tuesdays I believe, would air "All Night Poker". Starting at 11 pm, until 6 am, old coverage of either the Main Event, or more usually, final tables from preliminary events. They stopped doing this about 10 years ago, so you know how much more content they have,

Fox is already airing old NASCAR races in place of what would be there. Yesterday, they showed the thrilling race at Richmond from 1986.

Time for a 6 hour tribute to Tom Brady's career as a Patriot.

I think ESPN could make some dough by selling off some of their content to markets that have FBS and above low major basketball. I'd love to watch some old UC FB or BB games right now here and I am sure someone like Fox Sports Ohio would gladly put it on. I imagine the demand is even greater in some other markets.

Its not football season in the northeast, but in certain parts of the country it is always football season. Right now many college towns would be gearing up for their Spring Game.

I am not a car-racing fan, but I thought what NASCAR did yesterday with their virtual "I-racing" simulation on FS1 was entertaining. First, it was a lot shorter than a regular NASCAR race, second, the simulation was really incredible from a technical POV, and third, it helped immensely that major NASCAR drivers participated in it.

I mean, I will NOT watch a repeat of Game 7 of the 1984 NBA Finals but if the NBA organized NBA video games with guys like Anthony Davis playing themselves in the games, I might watch that.

They are replaying Kentucky basketball games for the bubbas put in the State.
