I think I mentioned it in another thread, but this ought catch the attention of the AAC. This hiring, the new bball practice facility, and new stadium should really put us in a position for a conference move.
I'd say we have one of the best football and men's basketball coaching duos in the country at the G5 level.

The AAC is looking for a program that will add to it's value and not have to prop it up. In its current state, UAB would not add that value the AAC is looking for. What UAB will need to do to make them an asset to the AAC is:
1. Start winning again in basketball and making the NCAA Tournament.
2. Improve attendance in basketball. We don't need 8,000 at every home game but averaging 5,000 to 6,000 a game would definitely get the AAC attention.
3. Maintain the success in football. That means continue winning the West and possibly winning another CUSA title which is definitely possible in 2020.
4. Get the football attendance average to around 30,000 consistently. UAB can't have 40,000 for the opening home game to only see the attendance decrease steadily as the season progresses.
UAB has the right coaches in place. UAB has the academic profile. There is a new stadium on the horizon and upgrades coming for the basketball program. I think UAB is looking at a 3 year window to show the AAC they are ready to move up.
