I would think a quality assistant that wanted to get a head coaching job could do better than most of those schools.

I see no obvious connections with Miller or Madlock for any of these. Toppert probably has some connections at Grand Canyon, but they are aiming high at former HC's.

One to keep an eye on is UNO where Tim Duncan (ours not SA's) is the AD and the coach might be on the hotseat. Madlock would be a natural fit there.

Why are we always so ready to send our staff and players away? If they have an opportunity I hope they get what they want. But making a hobby out of attempting to manufacture places for them go (same for player transfers) seems almost disloyal.

I don't see how he finally lands a head coaching job after a mediocre season unless he just started trying to get one.

Matlock had been an asst for several years & most recently prior to coming with Penny, finished as the interim head coach at Ole Miss. Before that, also remember him being an asst at UTEP and a pretty lengthy stint at Ark St. He has a lot of college experience.

Majerle got fired?

Jeff Jones at Old Dominion U., a member of Conference USA, reportedly is sitting on a hot seat. Some love him, others not so much.

Most AC's want to be a HC.

Agree. Most experts said this was likely to be a quiet offseason for coaches. That might be especially so with the way this season ended and the other stuff going on in the world.

The suspension of the tournament has probably saved quite a few jobs. Coaches do not have some AD looking at them like, "Why ain't you up in there?"

Third, (unless the NCAA makes Penny decide to quit) we got nothing to worry about until we have a championship parade down Beale.

I don't see Tony after Penny. I could see Mike because he has the relationships with the key contributors.

If the NCAA fines the school and say we have to remove Penny, then I could see Tony being the interim.

Iona is a good program, he should be able to keep his down in the MAAC and do well.
