Its being reported on Twitter by Coaching Changes that Majerle is going to get the boot this week. Do the GCU guys think this by any means is true or just social media fodder?

Why? One bad season? And GCU seems to be playing better of late.

I agree the the timing would be odd. What would be the benefit of doing it now?

Unless it's something so bad the GCU admin thinks it would better to finish the season under the assistants.

Total speculation, but Majerle seems like the kind of person who might lose his temper if an administrator or donor interfered with his coaching. Colangelo seems like the kind of person who might interfere with the coaching.

This same twitter account has been trying to bury Coach Majerle since 2015, after only 2 years of leading GCU.

I don't expect a change this week, but I guess nothing would surprise me either. Regardless, I prefer to get my information from more reliable places than a self described "Out of control handle run by a diverse group of insiders" who "...speculate on hires/fires", "...make jokes", and "...go after people".

Remember that account is run by several different people and there’s no way to tell which one of them is posting the tweets. Their opinions vary, but they have been right about some things before.

And a broken clock is right twice a day. I'm sure this take will "eventually" be right, but I can't see it happening this week as they've predicted.

I want to correct this grammar soooooo badly. I’ve been grading papers all weekend and I’m catching the possessive errors, subject verb agreement issues, and misspelling/wrong word concerns.

Like I tell my students... no matter how well researched your content may be, a poor handle on grammar and basic conventions will destroy your credibility as a reliable narrator.

Sorry y’all... I just cringed so badly reading that tweet. I think the diverse group of insiders is composed of a few novice fans and teenagers. Pure speculation for the most part.

I think you are right. I didn't realize that Coaching Changes has reported stuff about him in the past that didn't come true. I hope he doesn't get fired. As long as he is GCUs coach we will continue dominating the "rivalry".

Majerle's firing honestly probably isn't really news to most of us here, but I've had several interactions where I found myself explaining why this a) isn't surprising and b) isn't the wrong call. As it turns out, a lot of casual Phoenix sports fans are more familiar with Dan as a Suns player than college basketball coach and, therefore, look at his record on paper and assume GCU made a mistake.

I respectfully disagree with those individuals, and look forward to whatever unclever derogatory rhyming name Aggies fans come up for the coach that GCU does hire.
