It's the same virus just a different/new strain.

There is not going to be a vaccine a couple months...contrary to what the administration says.

I don't listen to any politicians, they all lie, it's all about science... they have a full DNA map of the Virus from the Bat and the 1st person inflected, it's just a matter of time.

Perhaps the Mayo Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic, or even the CDC might be a better option...

Do you have a link for info regarding a bat being the source? I've heard it mentioned as a possible start to all of this, but didn't think it was confirmed.

Somebody you SHOULD listen to is the FDA. They will require a Phase I clinical trial (which tests for safety of the potential vaccine that doesn't yet exist), which will take at least 3 months (very conservative estimate) and then a Phase II trial (which tests for efficacy), which will also take at a minimum 6 months. There won't be a publicly available vaccine in 2020.

For realistic timelines for clinical trials, it usually takes 5 years for this process to play out. For compassionate reasons, it's reasonable to think that could be trimmed (to at least skip Phase III, especially since there isn't a current standard of care!), but it's unlikely to be less than a year.

Of course, then there's the widespread disinformation campaign that's been allowed to linger about vaccines that would still likely prevent people from seeking it out.

More importantly, though, at least there IS a drug in Phase I trials to treat people:

Funny how everybody likes to villify pharmaceutical companies until they become a necessity...

Welllllllllllll...

When media outlets like... oh I don't know... CNN maybe?... make it their purpose in life to spew all things anti-Trump onto the airwaves 24-7 and they really don't even try to look the least bit objective about it... it's a little hard to believe them.

Look at your post. Even you could not resist the urge to trash Trump.

Now if someone were to tell me something objectively without some sort of "Trump sucks" agenda tacked on... I may be inclined to listen to them.

What kind of person enjoys a "I told you so" (albeit misplaced) concerning a contagion?

First, I alway take into account new information when making decisions. What do you do?

Second, the CDC has more credibility in the virus matter than the State Dept.

Here is the present advice from the CDC:
Quote:The CDC reports those with underlying health issues and older travel should avoid cruise ships altogether, along with long airplane trips and crowded places.

Younger folks in good health are at lowest risk of death or serious implications according to the latest information from the CDC (CDC)

Look, do what you want. I will continue to prudently take advantage of panic and hysteria for profit and pleasure.

The profit I envision involves timing the stock market, not selling scarce goods caused by fear from credulous consumers.

Concerning your statement about my posts; it will be taken under the advisement it merits.

Ah, the George Soros selling short method. Type in your search engine --> "george soros billion dollar day" to learn how he nearly destroyed England doing so and made 1 billion dollars in one day.

That said, I've made profit every day this week and am up nicely on the year. Yes, you have pay attention, learn, and take action at the right time. Sure I've lost some but gain more than lost.

I follow the happenings of the FDA, this will not be "Businesses as usual" it hast the political, financial, and Industrial backing to streamline and fast track the process.

Ahem...
Getting back to the OP and how this will affect football, I believe it will play itself out like the flu, well before the end of summer. The greatest long term damage will be the lingering effect on the national and global economy.

The number of deaths, while sad and tragic for those involved, will only be a blip on the long term perspective, at least in comparison to the usual seasonal illnesses.
