Been out of the posting game for the last month or so: had a relatively serious concussion and had to limit my screen time significantly.

I have been able to watch us play on most occasions (don't tell my doctor). My analysis for this tournament game... flip a coin. As Steve mentioned, three weeks ago we looked like world-beaters with the 21-point home win. I think we're a matchup problem for Kent.

We have some decent road performances on the season (beat CMU, should have beat Akron), and I don't really believe we offer much of a home court advantage anyways.
Hope we see something big out of Groce (15 pts, 9 reb last time against Kent) and Toure (10 pts, 9 reb). If we're relying on Binelli to launch bombs and make them, we could be in trouble.

Outside of the final 6 minutes of the CMU game, we’ve regressed quite a bit since the heartbreaking NIU loss. It’s hard to predict anything other than Kent smoking us, but we’ve shown that we can flip a switch at anytime and lock down the defensive end. If Toure is healthy and can stay on the court, we have a chance against anyone. If he isn’t, then Pippen and Whittington will eat us alive inside.

The February EMU might have been the best team in the league. The worst game we played that month was the CMU win. We were in control in the losses to Akron, NIU and Ball State only to lose for our classic issues, FT shooting and Murphy strategy. While we are clearly trending south, I am intrigued about our tournament potential. Last year's team exhibited no such run of success, their first round exit was hardly surprising.

Toure’s passing out of the post has been one of the few bright spots this season. It’s fun to watch. He’s really grown as a player since last season.

BTW, all the home teams are leading. Only 1 game is a single-digit lead.

Binelli forced two awful threes and then matadors on transition defense, yet Murphy leaves him in. I’ll never understand the love he has for Binelli.

Agree regarding Binelli! Bouls has 8 freshman on his team this year, and they're going to Cleveland! That's what a good coach does! Ohio U was picked dead last in the MAC preseason!

I acknowledge the fact that there won't be a coaching change because Weatherbe is the guy that extended the contract prior to last season. Firing him would be a bad career move for the AD.

Just please, do not extend him again!!! I'm worried that he will get an extension just to help with recruiting. Make him earn it.

The bigger story in the MAC MBB season:

ALL 3 Michigan MAC teams gone on the opening night.

And in the Horizon League, Oakland lost in the quarterfinals and UDM (well they weren't even eligible for their tourney due to NCAA sanctions).

What the hell is wrong with mid major hoops in Michigan??????
