RE: 2020 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament
Dragons end their 7 game losing streak with a nice win over UNCW today. Dragons advance to the CAA Quarterfinals for the third year in a row. Drexel slightly improves their record for the for the 5th year in a row, but just slightly. But at the rate their going, it will take about another 10 years until their a serious contender. Drexel was 13-19 last year. This year they are 14-18 and will likely finish 14-19 tomorrow.

Since we are not using the other thread, this game will give us problems. We have to find a way to keep Buie out of the lane so he doesnt slash us up, again. The key here is find any way to make them shoot a bunch of 3's.

I'm surprised the line isn't bigger. The Sagarin and its components (four total) all have Hofstra covering, and KenPom has Hofstra by 10.89. Seven Overtimes predicts 75-68 because they have you 212th, which is better than you are in the NET, RPI, all the Sagarins, and KenPom. It shows that even when people believe there is a big line between sixth and seventh, a 1 vs. 8 game where neither team is at or within an hour of home has a line of 7.5 shows parity.

RE: 2020 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament
Interesting 1st half in DC. Hofstra shot poorly so far. Drexel's forced Hofstra into a half court game. They've also taken care of the basketball for the most part. Even though Drexel has played well and kept themselves in the game, they did miss a lot of open shots, and Wynter can't seem to get going either. Drexel had the opportunity to be up by double digits if they could make their open shots fall.

RE: 2020 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament
i guess our only plan is to slow the game down. it's hard to imagine it will work when we a. don't have any shooters and b. don't play any defense. i don't think we can run with them if we speed things up though. it's irritating that they can blow by pretty much anybody for a lay up whenever they want.

RE: 2020 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament
We definitely want a slow paced game. Hofstra took 9 3's that half. They took 10 all of last game. We want to keep that up and keep Hofstra out at the 3 point line versus at the rim/in the paint. We did a good job of that and we need to keep it up for another 20 minutes. We started panicking later in that half on offense. We need to play settled down. Good new is we are only down 3 and Cam was shut out.

This is starting to unravel rather quickly. Drexel's offense revolves around finding the open look from 3 and hitting it. When they're not hitting their shots, they don't stand a chance.

We get flustered far too easily when a team makes a small run. Hopefully our mental toughness improves for next season

RE: 2020 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament
why is coletrane washington taking (and missing) all of our shots?

i can't decide if we still don't have any players or we're not doing things to get the most of out them. wynter hasn't done anything all game except turn the ball over. couldn't we put him at shooting guard or screen for him to get more shots?

what does juric and okros give us? looks like okros shoots a good percentage but doesn't shoot much. i hope he doesn't turn into that other foreign player we had a few years ago who ended up leaving. tadas still doesn't seem to have a chance to be a key guy.

Not yet but definitely closer. The falling apart in the second half happens too much and it definitely concerns me. But firing Spiker right now likely means bye bye Cam. It's not the pros where you can fire the coach and stay on the same track, it represents a complete program shift.

Next year is the put up or shut up year now. If the team had done better this season, it wouldn't necessarily have been.

I think we all agree next year we need to see something substantial or else it will be time.

Delaware won earlier over CofC. The Tribe fell to Elon. CAA is going to be pissed at charging high dollar for limited seats and not having a chance at selling out the semis or finals.

Attendance will be fine. I actually think that this might be the perfect city/venue for the CAA Tournament and it wouldn't shock me if it's here for a long time, like it was in Richmond. DC is basically the geographic center of the CAA footprint. There are three major airport in the general area and it's a major Amtrak hub. DC also has one of the best metro systems in the country and you can access the arena from virtually anywhere in the DC metro area via the Metro.

DC is also a city that bring people in from all over the country to live/work in the area. I'm sure that there is a large alumni base represented from every CAA school in the DC area.

The 4 teams left are from NY, Boston, Delaware, and Elon. Delaware is close to DC and Boston and NY are accessible. Not sure about Elon. Point being. There aren't a lot of seats to fill. And there should be enough fans interested in seeing their team try to win a championship that no matter which teams make it to the semis and finals, the arena should be close to sold out.
