Out of bounds play at end of regulation
Haven’t heard any comments about it but it was well conceived. If Preciuos converts would have to be on sports center top 10

Penny and crew have run some great set plays, for 2 years really.

I just wish they'd run more

Hopefully we will find a balance. The two plays to end regulation were beautifully drawn up and resulted in a wide open corner three and a layup. Hopefully, we can find some balance in the extreme freelance offense and running sets to create open shots. They definitely know how to draw them up because we tend to run really good sets out of timeouts.

Too bad teams will now have that end of game play on the scouting report.

Good let them double him down low and we throw it to the open guy.

I think it was pretty well known by everyone that we would be drawing up some form of an alley oop to precious.

Yep... knowing it and stopping it is two different things.

Interestingly enough the play was similar to Penny's shot vs Tulane. I think it was Tulane. Difference is Precious cut back door instead of going all the way to 3 point line.

The set for Harris and Achiuwa were magnificent even if both would have missed. All a coach can do is put his players in the best position to win.

Asking a college player to stop a pro level athlete like Precious is a huge challenge, especially when you know it is coming down to his athleticism versus their athleticism. Not really a fair fight and you pretty much have to hope he just misses, which he did in that instance. But I will take my chances on Precious vs. just about anybody in college basketball on a play like that every time.

I went to the game and was telling that story, and it was Tulane, the only way to win was to hit a three, Penny curled out to the 3 point line on the sideline, I think Madlock might have thrown the pass, Penny caught it and made the 3 while drifting out of bounds so he couldn't get fouled.

I need to watch this one again. But (if actually drawn up this way) the play they ran was spectacular. Precious charges to the goal looking for the alley oop with all eyes on him but he was well guarded, then he slows and drifts towards the corner, like his part was over, Tulane relaxes and he curls back in for the alley oop. I think we were extremely close to a 5 second call too. Wish it had dropped, the rolling around the rim before coming out made it that much worse.

Offensive goaltending wasn't really close:

Can't believe Tulane didn't guard the baseline inbounds pass and let us easily get it to halfcourt for the timeout.
Good catching on our play, vs. bad coaching by them.

Offensive goaltending wasn't really close:

Depends on how you look at a regular alley oop, a whole lot of those are technically offensive goal tending. Its whether you think Harris was shooting or passing, its a extremely subjective call. I personally don't think offensive goaltending should ever be called until after the ball hits the rim or backboard, whose to say whether the player is passing or shooting? I think defensive goaltending rule is good as is.

Also, I am assuming "wasn't really close" means as a Tiger fan you think it was goaltending and, as a Tiger fan, you would have said "wasn't even close" if you thought the call was a bad call? I don't really know what you meant.

The difference between that play and an alley opp is and alley oop the ball is going up still 99% of the time when the player catches it. On that play the ball was clearly on it's downward trajectory when Precious caught it.

That's what I thought the rule was but obviously I was wrong. Don't know that I've ever seen a offensive goal tending called BEFORE the ball hits the rim.
