RE: Tiger Baseball
Probably not going to happen, even though Coach Rock only has a 46% on wins during his career. Really good man and role model for the players. Apathy set in on this program several years back and since it is not a revenue generated sport, goes somewhat unnoticed.

Has had some fine players and West TN and N MS produces some really good talent. Unfortunately, even more so due to limited number of scholarships available in baseball vs FB & BB, we are sitting in the middle of SEC baseball heaven with Vandy, Arkansas and both MS schools pulling out of the local area.

Seriously, if you were a Stud player, where would you go to be showcased?

Started season with a 1 hit win and then the team just could not make simple plays. Last game they gave up 5 unearned in the second and lost 5-3.

Right now it does not matter who you hire you are just not going to get the talent needed to compete in Memphis. Five SEC teams made it to Omaha last year and only once in the past 12 years has an SEC teams failed to make the finals.

They have seven home games in a row coming up. Let's see how they do. But I do agree that Tiger baseball may need a change if things play out this year like previous years. I know that Coach Rock runs a good program and he is also somewhat limited with recruiting. So yes it is a difficult job, but like the post from Tigerx3 says, we thought the same for football.

I remember quite awhile back the Mississippi schools were concerned of the unfair advantage the Tigers were going to receive with local players due to their ability to qualify for the HOPE scholarship and receive those benefits to supplement the limited scholarships ....

Rock is in his 16th season, with one NCAA Tourney appearance.

Hasn't finished higher than 5th in the standings since the American was formed in 2014.

Never finished higher than 3rd in the standings since becoming Memphis coach in 2005.

We used to attend a ton of baseball games

But the last several years have made it less fun

Just so much apathy and mediocrity for so long

That is so nihilistic.

Might as well fold the program, right?

The same can be said about the LADY TIGERS. The last time we were really good was the Mary Lou Johns teams----20/30 years ?

I know LOSERVILLE caught a break---and found power 5 heaven---but they are the program that we were always compared. Both basketball teams and baseball team all are ranked (puke)---however it cant be all because of power 5 can it ?

You give me 400,000 and you get 80,000. Let's see who can build a better house. Oh wait, you have to build 12 houses with that same amount... now let's see who can build a better house.

That's about the difference in money between the two programs and that's been almost every year since they joined the Big East back when it was BcS.

Well, if it's all just because of being in the power 5---what about a baseball program like Tulane's. I don't know but it seems to me that our baseball and lady tigers have been bad for year's.

Tulane Rice Costal Carolina the list is long of non power 5 schools that compete at the highest levels in college baseball. Everyone knows where I stand on Rock he should have been fired 8-10 years ago. Even with the sec in a back yard there is plenty of talent in this area to compete in the AAC. Hell if you look at our records over the years most of the time we beat the sec schools but follow it up with series losing sweeps to Belmont. He is the ending years of Tommy West (puts 0 effort into recruiting) and Tubby Smith (apathy) all combined and we won't win until he is gone.
