"Batoon spent the 2012-2016 seasons under Hugh Freeze at Ole Miss, from 2012-2015 as Assistant AD for Recruiting Operations and as a defensive assistant."

Another assistant coach with a recruiting emphasis.

These days, you need almost your entire staff to be good at recruiting.

I am indifferent on the hire unless I learn more. Was he fired from his last stop?

According to everything I'm seeing, he was not fired, but the head coach for Hawai'i left for Washington State, & Batoon was even mentioned as a replacement: https://247sports.com/college/hawaii/Lon...42161881_3

He probably saw the chance to rejoin someone he was comfortable with, & he won't have to travel nearly as much compared to flying to & from Hawai'i.

I like Bennett best. He has the talent and has been in the system a year.

Not sure why we have so many quarterbacks. I'm sure not all are on scholarship but I don't think it's normal to have more than five at a time. To me it speaks to not having one you like so you go for quantity to better find a starter.

RE: 2020 FOOTBALL SEASON
Preliminary SP+ rankings for the 2020 football season. Projections are based on three primary factors – returning production, recent recruiting, and recent history.
More info --> https://www.aseaofred.com/preseason-sp-c...ents-rank/

Liberty's rank is 105 of 130 FBS teams. Offense is 92nd best and defense is 105th best.

2020 Schedule
32 – Virginia Tech
N/A – North Carolina A&T
57 – Western Kentucky
114 – Florida International
127 – Bowling Green
118 – UL-Monroe
95 – Syracuse
87 – Southern Miss
126 – UConn
N/A – Western Carolina
62 – N.C. State
129 – UMass

That puts LU at 7-5 according to this early prediction.

RE: 2020 FOOTBALL SEASON
I'm hoping for at least two unexpected wins along with the expected wins. 9-3 or 8-4 for the season.

A little surprised on a couple team's ratings (high & low), but that Western Kentucky ranking seems to be right on the money. I think 7-5 or 8-4 seems likely, unless this team is ready to go from Game 1 unlike we've ever seen before.

I don't know that I'd rank us 105th (I'd say higher) but they don't take coaching into account. I don't know that I'd agree with many rankings though I do agree that we'd end up around 7-5 so I don't have any issues with it. One thing to keep in mind is home games vs. away games.

#72 Syracuse
#73 Western Kentucky
#79 Southern Miss
#113 ULM
#120 FIU
#123 UConn
#127 Bowling Green
#130 UMass
FCS x2

That puts LU at 5-7 according to this early prediction.

RE: 2020 FOOTBALL SEASON
Found a good quote from a different LU message board. All credit to the author " Ill flame." His quote about the 2020 season, "We are a tough team to predict. We have a ton of good but inexperienced talent coming in and replacing mostly experienced but lesser talent. How do you weigh those two things and try to guess who we will be better than this season?"

I actually think this same situation will occur again in 2021. As recruiting continues to improve, I'm guessing the 2021 class will be the best class to date and several starters will leave after the 2020 season. (Note: I have to check on how many seniors in the 2020 class)

The QB situation is interesting. The new QB does not have the experience of Buckshot but the new QB is a better fit for the O.

RE: 2020 FOOTBALL SEASON
So we may be very similar to last year. Wonder if we’ll have a slow start again like last year? I’d imagine so.

Can we at least start 2021 without a major illness messing us up?

Between Coach having the illness & infection last year & now COVID this year, we just can't seem to catch a break going into a season 03-weeping

I'm thinking 8-4. We have more maturity at the FBS level, despite some key losses, & I think it gives us our first ACC win, or a win over Southern Miss.
