I think the mound and maybe home plate are the only 2 areas that are real dirt. I know that was the case with the old turn that got replaced.

Just like Vanderbilt's field. Late in the season when the turf starts wearing out on the first base side of second base, it gets crazy with guys trying to steal or stretch a hit into a double sliding into second. Especially if there has been any rain where it is slick. I mean, guys literally have to start their slide about 3 paces earlier than normal or they will slide past the 2B bag a good 8 to 10 feet. It's funny on one hand, but very frustrating on the other (that is, unlike normal baseball).

Dukes win 1-0 in the btm of the 10th. Don't see that very often in college baseball...0-0 thru 9 full that is.

Dukes pitching being frugal against Quinnipiac for a 2nd day in a row. Good Guys leading 5-0 in the 5th. Shut 'em out, Dukes!

Dukes get another shutout (7-0 today) in consecutive days to move the season record now to 3-3. 3 straight wins and go for the sweep over Quinnipiac tomorrow.

And how about Justin Showalter's performance today. A complete game 1-hit shutout. In 2 starts now, he has gone 13 innings, giving up just 4 hits, and 1 run (earned). Very impressive start to his season. Well done, Justin!

Very glad for the win (and the series sweep), but continue to be concerned about the relief pitching.

Chase DeLauter appears to be every bit as good as advertised. He started yesterday's game and batted lead off. He also had the walk off double yesterday, and the extra inning walk off single on Friday. Not bad for a freshman.

Side note, I fully realize the RPI doesn't mean diddly right now only 2 weekends into the season. But, just for giggles, the team sitting atop the RPI right now is NC State, who is 7-0 and dealt the Dukes our only 3 losses. Take it FWIW (which isn't much this early)…
