Question 2/15 baseball vs UT
OK. Into the 5th inning and no thread for 2nd game of the year. The excitement is overwhelming.

Owls down 2-0. Owls have out hit UT thru 4, but have had multiple runners thrown out on the bases. Meanwhile, UT has managed to move runners into scoring position and get a timely hit when needed. Line thru 4 - UT 2-3-0; Owls 0-4-0.

I'm watching online. Have the game mirrored to the big TV. A couple of close plays at the plate go the other way and we'd be tied.

T6: Greenwood in relief with 2 outs, man on first. Steal attempt, Collins hits Greenwood! Single and now 3-0 horns.

Both teams with 4 hits thru 6 1/2 innings. The one that is executing the small things has 3 runs. The other ...

UT pulls their starter after 6. Maybe we’ll have a chance now.

Not in the 7th. Mowed down again. Still 3-0.

Can’t tell if I’ve more impressed by our pitching or more disappointed by our offense today.

4-0 final for anyone who doesn't know. 1-2 in the main 3 sports today isn't great. After the great start by the men's hoops team, I was hoping for a better finish.

After two games I’m seeing the same problem the team has had for years: no power hitting and too many holes in the lineup.

Much has been said since last season about the pitching. The pitching looks better than expected. The fact is, though, that if a team can’t score runs it doesn’t matter how good the pitching is, especially at the college level.

Fielding has been superb - crisp and flawless, a very pleasant suprise.

Agree with Frizzy at this point.
Pitching better than expected. Although not what we were seeing a few seasons ago.
Fielding looks very good.
Not much hitting. Especially with runners on base. Actually, not a whole lot of making contact with the ball in any scenario.
It’s early.

Less than a page for the 2nd game of the year. Going to be a long season.

On the positive side, it was likely the best crowd (in terms of actual attendance and butts in seats) in a couple years. I'm guessing 3,500+.

Brogden was impressive. A pleasant surprise.

Yes, and I still believe it will be. Geez, it's just two games, and we haven't yet seen Combs.

Keep in mind that our team's performance has 50% to do with the way the offense or pitching looks -- the opposing team has the other 50% to do with that.
So, I wouldn't get too alarmed about anemic hitting so far, since presumably elite pitching from UT.
And, with our pitching being a big question mark, so far looking better than expected.
Crisp, flawless fielding?....that's 100% on us....so great!

UT is picked to finish 4th in the Big 12.

Right, and they finished last a year ago. Didn’t even make the big 12 tournament. This isn’t a powerhouse that is likely going to sweep up in our own place. Very discouraging start to the season.
