We are not the team we started the season with so the expectations should not be the same. You can tell Penny is a good coach because of our defense. The offense was built around Wiseman so it is late coming around - and then DJ got hurt and we are now guard oriented. Depending on guard play is only as good as your shooters.

The problem with this is that we did not lose the game at the end. We actually played our best ball of the game the final 5 minutes. We lost the game in the first 35 minutes when we had Precious and Lance.

And I do think most people have shifted expectations dramatically but we still have the talent to be a tournament team and we just had South Florida kick that dream into a grave. That is genesis of most of the frustration. We not only lost the game but also the NCAA tournament hopes and it was at the hands to 10-12 South Florida.

Precious was out with foul trouble for much of the game.

The best thing that could happen would be for Penny to save face by stepping down at the end of the season. Clearly, he wasn't ready for the jump from high school and AAU to major college basketball. If he had sat the bench as an assistant under an established coach for a few years, things might have been different. But he's too green and this is no place for him to learn the job.

Crawl back under the rock you came from.

You like blowing games at home to 11-12 teams? Or 40 point blowouts on the road?

Precious played 18 of a possible 35 mins before he got hurt. That’s not missing much of the game with foul trouble IMO. Heck we had the lead at the half with Precious missing more than half of the first 20 mins. We unfortunately let USF build a 9 point lead with a full rotation available for the game.

RE: OK, Penny needs to make a coaching change
All of you that are calling for CJP head, or wanting him to fire someone or whatever, thank you for showing why NO COACH, or player should display loyalty to this or any school. This season hasn't gone as well as we all hoped but the venom that's coming from you is uncalled for. A team of underclassmen and the majority bring freshmen, you should be ashamed, but I know you aren't. If I was in CJP, Coach Miller or anyone on staff, if a better opportunity presents itself I say bounce.

You guys are helping to give opposing coaches all the ammo they need, they can say that the fanbase has turned on him already. I guess you don't recall the Ol Miss guy that was on the radio prior to the season starting, I'm guessing the J & J show, saying that everyone outside of Memphis was hoping that coach would fall on his face this season. Here we are his city, he stayed home and played for this school, not wanting to give him a chance, shame on us as a fanbase.

Dude...how many are calling for CJP head? Feel free to list them here. I doubt you can get past 2-3 from this board.

Not just this board, I've heard it on the radio and in comments on other forums. No one is above criticism, but to me, and it's just my opinion, some are unreasonable and reactionary and over the top crazy.

Nobody here is calling for Penny Hardaways head. Well, PATiger maybe but his is trolling. Don't think TOGC is still here.

I doubt any real radio hosts are. Penny needs some help on staff imo but we shall see.

I think it's just been a perfect storm of gut punches and bad luck with this group. I always felt the expectations were set too high, even before JW bailed. Injury, illness, etc. One thing after another. I want to see how we close, but I still believe in Penny 100%.

I'm not talking about radio host, I'm talking about FANS, I've heard a few saying that he needs to be fired.

Last year, Penny won with a team that was mostly made up of Tubby's players.

This year, the team is entirely his.

Last year's team was better.

Coach had a team of upperclassmen and J. Martin was the focal point. Compare J. Martin from his freshman year to his senior year, our guys now may be more naturally talented but they are a year away. We have to be fair and give them time.
