Regardless of where they end up this season they will not be the #1 team that the season started with. By injuries or by players quitting, that #1 label no longer applies.

This team lost its entire frontcourt tonight and people want to ignore that.

We made a come back after the front court injuries. The injuries are not the reason we lost this game. But unfortunately they maybe the reason we fade down the stretch.

So playing a 6'5 shooting guard at center didn't hurt.

Their guard backing boogie down to take the lead... do you think having an actual shot blocker in the game discourages that.

Let me ask this... if you had to choose rosters at the end of that game which roster do you choose? I am picking South Florida's

I’m not disagreeing about the end of game. But you are ignoring the point that we were down 9 with less than 8 mins left before Precious and Lance got hurt. We made a comeback with our guards after the injuries. Eventually we couldn’t hang on cuz of the lack of front court depth. But front court injuries or not, we were probably losing that game with the way the entire team played. Injuries IMO didn’t have as massive an impact since they happened late and we were still able to scrap back. Now, moving forward, we are going to be in a world of hurt.

We had 3 capable bigs

Dandridge out down to 2

Precious gets 2 quick fouls and a quick third making him passive...down to 1

There is a reason precious had been playing 35 minutes a game. The biggest reason is he gets rebounds and protects the rim. Malcolm could have hidden those holes left by precious

Against a sub .500 team, we were still up 3 at half in-spite of the foul problem and getting out rebounded. We lost in the 2nd half although we had 3 front court players in the rotation most of the 2nd half against a sub .500 team. I just don’t buy injuries as the primary reason for this loss.

Dude..

Our problems are deeper than JW.

I usually agree with you but we had the #1 recruiting class.

Not #2, #5, $10, #25, #50

Certainly not #69

We need a legit D1 coach on staff

I certainly don't disagree with your last statement, in fact I wholeheartedly concur and even went so far as to create a thread about it.

I didn't mean to make it seem as if I was saying that losing Wiseman is the ONLY reason we have had such a dismal season but I do think it's a significant factor. Regardless of the recruiting class ranking we are so very young and there's no accounting for the emotional maturity of 18 year olds. They may have all the talent in the world but without the intestinal fortitude that many of them seem to lack, losing a 7 foot beast that every player was counting on had to hurt them, especially at a mental level.

We got out rebounded by 12. No DJ, no Malcolm and no Precious for most of the game.

Two out the top 3 in that class are going to miss close to half the season

A third misses 5 games

A fourth misses at least 7 games

So he added the number 1 class to essentially nothing.

7 guys come in and are going to miss 50 games... is that really still the number 1 class.

Their top 2 rebounders were 6’6 guys with 16 and 7 respectively. It’s a matter of effort and not size

There is some truth to what you say but.

There is a reason big or tall guys usually get most the rebounds. 6'6 guys wouldn't have gotten nearly as many rebounds if our 6'9 guys played

We lost Wiseman 3 months ago, if the Tigers till haven't moved on over the Wiseman, then it's the players fault for not moving out. Even without Wiseman, this team should be a Round of 32/Sweet 16 team.

Regardless we should not lose to a sub .500 team. There are 80 possible total mins between the 4 and 5 and about 60 of those mins were between Precious, Lance and Maurice. We just have to agree to disagree here. Front count injuries are not the primary reason we lost this game.

Y'all can say what you want, but this team is bad, really bad. You can't blame injuries when it comes to turnovers, you can't blame injuries or lack of having the mental toughness to finish (SMU game), and you can't blame injuries for not showing up to play a game (Tulsa game). It's bad to me when I hear one of Penny's press conferences that he told the media that the players respect our conference now, meaning for the first month of the season, the players thought they can cakewalk conference play. This is a team that is still full of egotistical players, AAU/High School basketball, and lack of awareness/discipline on the court. When you see a coach with the #1 recruiting class, you have a target on your back. When your coach comes with a "All the Smoke" hoodie, you have a target on your back. When don't fulfill that, you make yourself look like a fool. When does football season start?
