Great news !!!!

I think he plays for the smallest school division in Texas (DI) but I'm not sure.

Great vision, running instincts and apparent power but once again he may be playing in the small school division.

Excellent offer list as well.

Go Rockets!!!

Big, strong kid. I worry about academics when I see his other offers, though. Dartmouth, Boston College-will he be able to manage the rigorous academics at UT?
He'll probably get more playing time here as a Freshman, on the quiz bowl team.

Do we have a quiz bowl team? Is there such a thing as a quiz bowl team?

Getting recruits out of Texas, nice. He have personal connection here? Seems kind of random.

Seems like a graduating Seymour's perfect replacement- a punishing runner.

You can probably count on one hand the amount of recruits we've signed from Texas over the past decade. Certainly a state worth recruiting.

A track site has him running a 12.1 100m for a PR.

Yikes...that's violently average for a high schooler, and wouldnt have even made it out of DISTRICTS in Ohio.

I've got him as a Freshman in 2017 running a 4.6/40
and 30.5 vertical jump at the Rivals FB Combine in Dallas. I wouldn't worry especially with ACC, Big10,
SEC offers

Ola was from Houston. Daxton Swanson was from TX, Current Rocket Kendall Major is from Texas. There have been a few others.

Saw Indiana's QB available as a grad transfer. Might not be the worst idea as a bridge.

Didn't play much at ND. Not a lot of P5 transfers have contributed that much to UT, but one can hope this will help the new defense.

This looks to be official, based on this article from ND Insider

Pretty sure there are guys who can run that backwards but speed isn’t everything.

RE: 2020 Football Recruiting Thread
From twiter, Candle was visiting Lynch's HS in Dallas this week, and coincidentally, I saw 5-10 UT new offers to other TX players this week as well.

Actually, the past couple weeks of official contact period I've seen at least 100 offers tweeted to '21, '22 and a few '23 players. Seems like it is way more than I've seen the last couple years, but maybe the kids are just tweeting more this year.

Cauren looks like a super commit. I enjoy reading other perspectives. The comments on speed and 100 meter time reflect a guy that may not have break away speed in D1 football, but his vision, lateral movement, and instinctive running are excellent. He is a strong downhill runner that looks very Kareemish. He don’t go down with a hard hit or an arm tackle, and if 3 guys don’t have good position he is still gaining yards. He is fast enough to beat defenders to the edge, and defenders better have the angle, because he is fast enough to blow by for 20 yards.

Cauren looks like a ground it out back that will average 5+ ypc, be hard to stop on 3rd down, and have many 20+ yard runs.

My remaining questions are: How well does he catch the Ball, and has he had any fumbles.

Nice commit.

Ball control is what want to see. Vision and the ability to get to the endzone is great but we have had quite a few fumbles this past year. And a couple most definitely hurt us in a big way

RE: 2020 Football Recruiting Thread
I see two new announced commits on twitter:

QB Hunter Helton from Armwood HS, FL
https://247sports.com/player/hunter-helton-46081871/
https://www.hudl.com/profile/9082531/Hunter-Helton

and
P/K Drew DelVerne from Sylvania Northview
https://www.hudl.com/profile/11422860/Drew-DelVerne

That's the 2nd P/K to commit, via twitter, and of course the 2nd QB.

PK has to be a walk-on. There was a Delverne at St Johns.
