Mbodj was one of the WRs they could rely on. That will suck if he goes. He was getting plenty of PT. This is turning into free agency quickly.

The thing about free agency is that it works both ways...

Now we have to replace 3 of our top 4 wide receivers/tight ends from last year (and 4 of the top 6). And it wasn't exactly an area where we had a lot of depth.

No offense to them, but Medaris and Geddis were too inconsistent. Mbodj came on strong near the end of the year. We have a lot of young guys in the room already that are continuing to develop- Pierce, Jackson, Trent Cloud, Blue Smith, Garyn Prater and Tre Tucker among others. We'll be bringing in more receivers with this class, I would not be surprised to see a transfer come in.

I still think the staff has yet to figure out to maximize the talent in the TE room either-- Lenny Taylor and Josh Whylie can be utilized a lot more both in line and spread out wide.

Agree on both counts. I would prefer Mbodj stay but I like our young guys on the roster. If Mbodj entered the transfer portal last year as well then give me guys that want to be here and put in the work. The upside on Tre Trucker is high IMO to go along with the talented Pierce for starters.

I was "disappointed" [loosely] in how the staff used the TE room this past year. All we heard in the off/preseason was how strong a unit it was. They even threw out some 4 tight end sets to mess with the defensive unit. There is still a cache with that group to better utilize in the offense.

Sorry, I know this will offend some of the Ridder fan boys, but it is hard to blame any decent WR for not wanting to play in this offense with a poor passing QB. It has to be frustrating. Big loss though.

No offense taken. How come more of the WR's aren't transferring out then if Ridder/offense is so terrible? Mbodj entered the transfer portal the previous season as well apparently.

With a year left I could definitely see him thinking he has a much better opportunity to showcase his skills and get more attention in a more prolific passing offense.

Given Blue Smiths comments on twitter, I would bet he enters the portal soon

In case it wasn't posted, Potts committed to FCS Northern Colorado.

Here's a nice 2020 UC football portal refresher:

Do we know why Blue Smith didn’t see much action this year?

RJ Potts in the Transfer Portal
I'm as critical of the QB play as anyone but I'd like the WRs give it through the spring before looking elsewhere. If Bryant doesn't win the job I can't blame any of the receivers for looking elsewhere in addition to Bryant.

I read that yesterday. Reading through his timeline, I am not sure if that was an indictment on our staff directly. Most of the posts and retweets on his timeline speak to the much broader message being shared that college and professional athletes are "slave labor" for rich, white owners. Probably helps his position coach is an African-American.

Another WR in the portal this time it's Javan Hawes. Good selling point to the two other WRs we're trying to court is immediate playing time is available.

It's a bit surprising to me to see so many transfers in a position group with so much opportunity for playing time. Anyone have any color on this?
