Nate Knight
This post got me looking at all time stats.
Nate Knight -
1838 points
815 total rebounds
194 blocked shots

Records-
2178 points (Marcus Thornton)
1679 rebounds (Jeff Cohen)
248 blocks (David Cully)

We have a minimum of 14 games left. If everything goes as we dream about, possibly 17 games.
To reset the record book, Nate would need to average from here out-
340 more points - 24 ppg over 14 games (20ppg over 17)
864 more rebounds - 62 rpg over 14 games (51rpg over 17)
54 more blocks - 4 bpg over 14 games (3bpg over 17)

The points and blocks are within striking distance if this team defies all reasonable expectations and Nate puts out some all world efforts. I hope he can set some records, but I'm thinking they might be a little out of reach.

In any case, Nathan has an opportunity to finish 2nd in points and 3rd in rebounds all time. Seems rafter-worthy to me.

If we play post season then some of these are more reachable especially if we win

Even if stretching the season out to 17 or 18 more games, Nate would need to have some serious herculean efforts to eclipse those numbers. Then again, if he does go on a ridiculous statistical tear, there is a better chance that we are going deep into the post season.

Imagine if he didn't burn a year at K. Union. He'd be eligible for another year.

What do you mean? This is his 4th year of playing college, he's used up all his eligibility.

Did his postgrad year not count toward eligibility?

No, it's essentially a 5th year of high school. He still gets to play 4 years of college basketball. Actually, had he not done that extra year at Kimball, he would've already graduated and we wouldn't have him this year.

Just being in the top 5 all-time on two different major statistical categories should probably get you a banner. He will probably end up top 3 on both? Certainly good enough. If he takes us to the dance, he gets a bronze bust in the entry of Kaplan.

Whole team will get a bronze bust. It's going to be about the collective effort.

I'm especially amused by this one. The record by Bill Chambers is 51 (maybe it is 50) and has not been approached by anyone in decades --- so Nate would have to tie the record every game, on average, for the rest of the way. If he did that then it would truly be Herculean.

Missing 51 shots would also be a sign of really bad team basketball.

ESPN+ just put up an article listing the top 25 players in college basketball. Knight came in at no. 25.

The rules were different then. For example if you tipped a shot toward the basket on a missed shot you were credited with a rebound and a shot attempt. Centers especially had tons of rebounds and shots attempted.

This is quite an honor. There are only 3 non-Power 6 players on the list (Toppin from Dayton, Flynn from San Diego St. and Petrusev from Gonzaga). And it's great publicity for the program. Way to go Nathan!

Nathan and this team needs to be in the tournament. Here's hoping it happens.

And if we make The Dance, Nathan would be the first to tell you it's not because of him. And he'd mean it.

THAT'S why he - and this team - are special.
