Glad to see no AAC teams jumped us.

Will 2020 bring yet another top 25 with only one ranked G5 program while it ends with 4-5 ranked?

Goal for next year, let's try to get 2 teams ranked.

With what App State and Louisiana have coming back, it's possible.

There's also some other teams that bring back a crap-ton of experience, like Georgia Southern and Troy that could be a factor.

Assuming this translates into a preseason ranking App will have a tough road staying ranked. Back to back Wake Forest and Wisconsin in week 2 and 3 could knock us out. Definitely need to win out after that and need Louisiana to get ranked too. 3-1 out of conference is easily within reach for the Cajuns.

With Newman gone I'm much less worried about Wake. That's practically gonna be a home game for us now.

If we can keep it close against Wisconsin (will probably start in the 10-15 AP range), it will be seen as a quality loss and I don't think we will drop far. If Clark works out, I think we break top 25 by midseason again. I do see us starting around AP 30 again this year because of the new staff.

Great season, App. State. Congrats.

What a remarkable year for us, and this ranking is the cherry on top. The league is gaining respect, but now it's time to get multiple teams ranked to really challenge the MWC as the #2 conference. A lot of progress has been made in short time for a relatively young league and young FBS program.

First off, Congrats to App St. you've set another high bar for the rest of us to try and beat.

as for next year, i expect App to be ranked pre-season around 24 or 25. Next year we have a good change for the Sun Belt to have 2 ranked teams. and overtake the MWC. To the continued rise and improvement of the Sun Belt.

We received 96 votes at the end of 2018 (hovering just outside the top 25) and we received 5 votes at the start of the 2019 season. With a new coaching staff, I think we will be just outside the 25 or potentially within the 23-25 range.
