Joe Burrow- Best CFB QB season ever
Don't know there's much doubt about that one. 15-0 with what 61 TD Passes?

.... and LSU best season ever. 15-0 with wins over seven AP top 10 teams.

You have to put LSU 2019 up there with Miami '01, Nebraska '95, etc.

LSU 2019 offense would tear up any defense

with 5 wins over postseason top 8-9 teams. Scoring 42, 46, 37, 63, and 42 points in those 5 games.

Just stop it. The rules are so different now and QB is much easier than before. But he did have a tremendous season, glad they won.

The prior comp was probably Cam Newton, and Burrow's numbers(especially later in the season) blow him away.....

Burrow averaged for the year accounting for 4.33 touchdowns per game..... Think about how insane that sounds.

Cam Newton was and is a freakish athlete. Joe Burrow is like watching an all Pro QB at the college level. His field awareness, his cool under pressure, and his accuracy and drive to win are the best I've ever witnessed at the college level and I've seen some great ones in nearly 50 years of going to games. Add his humility and workman like attitude to it and he's gong to be danged hard to top, maybe ever.

the thing that I thought was so amazing was he's got that All Pro QB in him- but also has the good part of Favre in him as well...

Too bad I wasn't around for Andre Ware or Klingler. I might be able to throw a biased curveball into this thread. 05-stirthepot

5 of the final top 8 and 14 and 25 (and 26 for good measure)

He's great.

He topped some Hawaii QB in most TDs. (edit) He just missed topping Colt McCoy of Texas in best completion %. He was ahead going into the game.

RE: Joe Burrow- Best CFB QB season ever
The 5th TD in the game was his 60th for the year, his 4th was number 59 on the season, which broke Colt Brennan of Hawai'i's previous record. 60 total TD passes plus 65 total TDs (passing plus rushing) are both single season records. Now in all likelihood he will return to his home state of Ohio as the top pick of the Bengals. Tip of the cap to you Mr. Burrow!

LSU also scored 726 points, eeking past 2013 FSU for most ever, albeit two more games than FSU played.

RE: Joe Burrow- Best CFB QB season ever
the thing that's amazing to me is how really few candidates there are for best season ever for a QB...

This puts in perspective how great Burrow was.....

Cam Newton had a 182 rating as a QB.

Burrow's QB Rating.... 20 points higher.

That is mostly due to very few college offenses being centered around passing until recently, and recent passing-oriented offenses emphasizing shorter passes with high completion rates over the older style of vertical pass plays combined with a higher percentage of running plays.

Burrow's 2019 stats will always stand out because of the high level of opponents. Pretty much every other college QB season with huge yardage and/or TD statistics occurred against much weaker defenses.

LSU’s offense, in general, was unstoppable all season.

Auburn did far and away the best job, holding them to 23 points. Still, LSU had 30 first downs and 510 total yards. They hurt themselves with a lot of penalties and two turnovers.

One thing Auburn had was two really good defensive linemen who got pressure on Burrow without having to blitz. If you can pressure a QB with just your front four, you can slow down any offense.

Not that anyone cares, but Colt Brennan averaged 4.5. If not for the extra CFP game, Burrow wouldn't have broken Brennan's passing TD or total TD records.

LSU #3 SOS
Hawaii #132 SOS in Sagarin(even though there were only like 120 FBS teams).

So no, really don't care.
