Whoa. Shakes things up a bit. I think he made Baylor a more attractive job than it was.

That guy can coach. He won at Temple. What he did in three years at Baylor was incredible, as he inherited a dumpster fire.

I'm glad he's out of the Big 12.

RE: Matt Rhule to the Carolina Panthers
I doubt he makes it with the Charlotte Panthers as long as Marty Hurney is the GM.

Baylor shouldn't have any trouble filling their vacancy as they have a pretty good roster coming back.

Tepper made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Huge contract -

Adam Schefter

Panthers are giving former Baylor HC Matt Rhule a seven-year - seven year - deal worth $60 million that with incentives could be worth up to $70 million, per league sources.

Hurney is on the way out or will have his role reduced. The rumor is that Rhule. will have a ton of power as Tepper is looking to revamp the entire football operations side.

Made total sense after Franklin got his extension at Penn State, and even then, at some point, when the pro's want you, and you don't have to do all of this stuff you do at the college level, it's worth going pro.

Schools in the Big XII and SEC are probably rejoicing over this departure.

Not sure why the SEC teams would care

They lost to a severely undermanned UGA team in their bowl and Baylor is ranked 54th in recruiting so it’s not like Rhule was stealing all the talent for Waco

Wasn't surprised by Rhule leaving Baylor. The Bears are losing most of their starters on defense and lost 2 pf their 3 best offensive players/ Their starting QB may not make it thru next season. This is the case of a coach leaving while his stock is high.

Almost $9M/year guaranteed... he should have a few dollars left over every month after paying high Charlotte rent; if he plans to buy, he better get an advance...

That's sad to hear. Can't wish anything but the worst for the Charlotte Panthers.

Probably. He could have done that as a pro coordinator and not HC, but at least he gets paid more this way...and probably goes right to the top of any college HC applicant list.

It’s going to be interesting to see what he can do with his defenses at this level.

I hope this doesn’t become like Chip Kelly where he went from on his way to becoming a legend (#11, #3, #4, #2 his 4 years) to destroying his career. Chip should’ve never left Oregon.

Didn't Chip Kelly get a show cause order pretty much forcing him out of college coaching for 6 years because of paying handlers to steer recruits to Oregon. I don't think it was his choice to leave Oregon.

Nope.

Kelly left Oregon before the NCAA handed out sanctions. He was already coaching the Eagles. And, the show cause order was for 18 months, not 6 years.
