It'd be nice to have a B12 paycheck, but just as far as on field rep goes I don't see it being much different than the good ol' AAC.

Bolded is why the B12 is better. I'd take it happily and be part of the club. If we were 10-3 in the B12 (big if), we'd also be ranked in the top 15 though I was pleasantly surprised when we didn't drop after our 2nd Memphis loss. Through the season, the American seemed to have a ranking cap of around 15, regardless of game outcomes.
If BDF was recruiting to UC in the B12 we could attract talent that over time would rank us upper mid B12. Not with TX or OK but with the second level.

Still would prefer ACC where the same would be true.

You got that right. I only saw about half of the first half but the USM defense was taking away pretty much anything Tulane tried to do on offense.

No disrespect to USM, but Tulane needs to come back and win this game to salvage a little P6 pride for the American. Otherwise, it continues to prove what most of us believe: the top half of this conference is very competitive, the bottom half deserves the G5 moniker.

Tulane coming back and tied. Need win for AAC to be 4-3

Big disappointment was Temple and SMU not even showing fight.

Looks like both the ACC and the Big12 could use Cincinnati's help.

I agree. Had the B12 added UC and say UCF, two years ago, they would have created lots of energy with competitive football teams in major new television markets. As a conference, they lack vision. In my mind, that's mostly a UT problem; fat and happy with their Longhorn Network. On one level, I understand it; no "G5" will create an immediate buzz with their fanbase. But the right G5 selections stack up well with their existing institutions and will get traction quickly, earn respect and begin building rivalries.

Yep. No disrespect to their athletics @ WVU but my guess is they want no part of UC in the B12. They witnessed the awakening of a slumbering football contender when UC joined the Big East. One that eventually overtook WVU in winning conference championships. They would, rightly, have much to fear: home turf recruiting advantages of UC in Cincy/OH, bigger, better academic institution and a fine campus in an amazing city.

The B12 will not exist in its current format in 5 years. We'll be playing with the likes of WVU, Iowa State and Kansas State by or before 2025.

Dunno. They’d probably welcome some closer conference mates and they really don’t recruit Ohio that much anymore anyways. They have had like 2-3 Ohio kids in their last 3-4 classes combined. They signed a kid out of Indian Hill a few classes ago if I recall.

I have a buddy up here who is a two time WVU grad and he said he and a lot of other people who he still speaks with really miss having Cincinnati on the schedule every year...says he felt like it was a really cool regional game and a budding rivalry with all of the classic games we had in the mid '00s-early '10s

That's what I'm leaning towards, and if the ACC never comes calling, I'm okay with that option. Take the strongest 5 or 6 schools in the AAC, pair them up with the Big 12 leftovers, and you've got a pretty good conference. We'll still lag behind in money, but hopefully the league will be able to retain its power conference label.

RE: College Football Bowl Season Thread
Browsing boards of the 2005-2012 Big East school's I think there is a lot of remorse for their current state of affairs (with the only exception being Louisville actually who is very ecstatic in the ACC). The money's great, but money isn't everything if you have no passion for the schools you are playing against, road games are 1,000 miles away and of course most importantly are getting your heads bashed in. Pitt, WVU, Syracuse and Rutgers fan all would rather be in a conference that consists of something that looked like the Big East- the only caveat is they have this fantasy of Penn State and Maryland joining. The usual breakdown would look something like:

Pitt
WVU
Syracuse
Rutgers
Penn State
Maryland
Boston College
UConn

Sometimes they include UC, Louisville and Navy.
