The audacious airport strike is a potential turning point in the Middle East as U.S.-Iran relations teeter on the brink, and is expected to draw severe retaliation from Iran and and its Shiite allies against Israel and American interests.

This has the chance to escalate out of hand. Iran could engage in terrorism against civilians on the US mainland or attack ships in the gulf. Would the US and Israel then attack Iran directly? How would Russia and China respond?

Israel is at the greater risk. Anything too aggressive against them and they would go scortched earth on Iran's nuclear facilities and oil production facilities. Iran knows this so would at most continue proxy war and terrorism actions.

IMO it could get messy for a month or so, but nothing too severe will happen.

Russia is probably more focused on how to pick apart and annex an obliterated iran than they are on how to protect them or fight their war for them. Likewise with China. If anything a crippled and vulnerable Iran could get Russia and China into a conflict as each tried to move in before the other.

Iran will take and like it, or things will get even worse for them.

Russia won't like it, but they don't want us interfering with their Crimean land grab that Obama allowed either. China doesn't want us interfering with their Hong Kong situation. And, their economy is under severe strain, and they need us to sign the first stage of our new trade deal too. The rest of the countries on your list don't have the ability to do anything without leaving their countries open to economic and military action that would cripple them into civil wars.

The idea that half of the countries he listed could even afford to go to war against us is laughable, and half of the rest have no desire to poke the bear as, as you say, they haven't the desire or the wherewithal to poke the bear.
