RE: Conference Standings Predictions
New Mexico State will easily win the WAC this year. We will sweep everyone to finish 16-0 and finish the regular season at 25-6.

RE: Conference Standings Predictions
Saturday's game will tell us how strong NMSU is currently. Cal Baptist appears to be NMSU's number one challenger this season. But I do think there will be a sleeper team or two who will step up and cause havoc.

Several teams have lost games this year by playing awful...

Let me try to lay out a case here.

In your favor: Yes, you just got back last year's starters plus Gilyard. Gilyard did have a great night against Mississippi State. While your starters were out, other players stepped up, and still managed to have a way better OOC than the rest of us. It stands to reason that you should be even better with three key players back.

On the other hand:
1. It's great to have lots of depth but you only have 5 players on the floor at a time, and three of them will be the same as last year.
2. You don't have Chuha and Zamora anymore. Your replacements are good, but are they as good as them?
3. It's true that you were 15-1 last year, but it was not as much of a blowout as it appears, especially on the road: UVU by 5 pts, UTRGV by 2 pts, CSUB by 1 pt, GCU by 3 pts. NMSU does seem to have a knack for successfully closing out tough games, but we only need to get a little bit better to flip those.

Excellent observations and thoughts. Allow me to address them:

1. We had a 13 man rotation last year. We are gonna have something similar the rest of the year. Turned out pretty well in 2018/2019, no? Guys that are doing well get more minutes. Guys that struggle sit.
2. Chuha is a much bigger loss than anyone anticipated. Zamora was super streaky. He could go for 25 and then have 5 games in a row with single digit scoring. We don’t miss Zamora at all.
3. This is your best point. But the WAC had arguably its best season (since the reconfiguration) in its history. The WAC is waaaaaay down this year. NMSU is not down like the rest of the WAC.

NMSU struggles this season was due to not having a good point guard. We now have two very all-conference point guards active. NMSU is going to run away with the WAC again.

UTRGV has no chance vs NMSU. We'll sweep you guys again.

True, NMSU did not fully replace the loss of Chuha however, where the Aggies improved from a year ago is in the improved performance of returnees Trev Queen, Jabari Rice and Johnny McCants... and, the addition of Evan Gilyard; who is capable of taking over a game. Even though Shawn Williams has yet to have a breakout game, he definitely has the talent and skill to impact a game. A year ago NMSU's rotations was... AJ Harris, Terrell Brown, Clayton Henry, Trevelin Queen, JoJo Zamora, Shunn Buchanan, Keyon Jones, and Jabari Rice. Currently, NMSU's guard rotation is AJ Harris, Evan Gilyard, Jabari Rice, Trevelin Queen, Terrell Brown, Clayton Henry, Shawn Williams, and Shunn Buchanan. NMSU is stronger in the back court this season but a little weaker "offensively" in the front court.

Damn it guys. If you're going to hijack the thread, will you at least post your predictions for the rest of the teams? Play the game folks.

I'm too lazy to do math on who does what so I'll only post my two predictions.
NMSU 15-1 because we always lose a stupid game.
Chicago State 8-8 because why not. If UTRGV can have a good year after not doing so well so can Chi State.

I think NMSU going 16-0 is very realistic.

RE: Conference Standings Predictions
I gave UVU too much credit with my prediction. Other than UMKC beating UVU, the rest of my other three game prediction were right. Before the NMSU/CBU game, I felt NMSU had more than enough firepower to avenge last season's loss. However, it got a little more dicey once I realized Henry wouldn't play this game and shortly thereafter Harris got injury. Still, NMSU had more firepower but NMSU they needed to stay out of foul trouble.

Nevertheless, NMSU still appears to be the alpha in the WAC. We will need for Gilyard to pick up a much heavier leadership/scoring load if Henry and Harris are once again sidelined. Without Harris, NMSU is vulnerable to 2-3 losses in the WAC. But if Aurrecoechea and McCants play the rest of the season like they played last night, 16-0 is very much a possibility.

We just lost to the one team I was worried about. 12-4 is a ridiculous prediction. 15-1 is still my prediction cause we lose one game that we shouldn't have.

Gilyard is the MVP of this team, players get to play their roles when his in. Bigs are having monster games, McCans/Ivan. Trev is not keyed on and plays and scores freely, same with brown. When he played in the first half we were up 14, take him out we go down 1 within minutes. Put him back in the second half we win by 15. There is no one in the WAC that can guard him also, he was light years quicker and faster than Aqua. Brown did good shutting out Aqua the second half. We should go 16-0 in league play, the only team that could beat us is us.

Keep doubting UMKC at home. That and at Seattle are the only games left that I can see NMSU not winning by 8+ points

NMSU is going to crush UMKC twice this season. You don't have the talent to hang with us. We'll prove that on Saturday.

Kinda like those crushings NMSU football took this year? 7-58, 10-62, 7-41 and 3-41?
