What experience tells you that? Why hasn't any other program jumped at the chance to hire such a surefire homerun?

Played College basketball at the highest level. Outstanding NBA career, Coached HS and was successful, Learned from a mentor for the last 10 years. Fully understands recruiting and what it takes to build a team. The only question .....can he build a donor coalition and fan base.
Can he recruit is far from answered at this point, so is can he coach. The fact that he played in the NBA means nothing to me. Most of the best coaches in college basketball never played in the NBA, and many who did play in the NBA have proven to be terrible college coaches. I haven't seen anything from him that indicates he is a rising star among coaches, nor has anyone else apparently, since he was looking for a head coaching job and didn't find any takers.

Applied to only 1 school (lateral school/conference), and at that point only had 5 years of college coaching experience (obviously no HC exp).

Five pages, "so far", for something that's not happening. I love it!
Jones just had his contract extended just after last season right?

Correct, all conjecture with little substance. Unless something emergent happens (e.g. retirement/health/etc.), Jones will be coaching a MINIMUM 2 more years.

Doesn't matter. It's obvious the topic which brings out the most posts on this forum is speculating on when the football/basketball/women's basketball coach/athletic director will be fired and who will replace he/her. It has been that way forever and will continue long into the future.

Now we're complaining about where we were seeded? A tournament championship doesn't even register on the successful season scale? Wow.

No it’s not good enough. We are special and deserve better. Haven’t you been paying attention. The entire fan base deserves better. For being such great fans, we are entitled to more. A 14 seed is “beneath us”.

It was in response to the "Aim High". 14 seed is the worst seeding we have ever had and we haven't been seeded that low in 25 years. Glad we overachieved with a mediocre team, but not exactly a benchmark season.

Incorrect. The lowest seed we have ever had is a 15 under Purnell in the 1992 NCAAT. That team got smoked by UK, who would go on to the F4 and lose in the semis due to one of the most famous plays in NCAAT history (Laettner's turn around jumper).

The 14 th seed shows a total lack of respect for CUSA...until we make a change in conference affiliation we will continue to struggle recruiting better players...JJ is not going anywhere any time soon...ODU is stuck in a real bad situation now...and I can’t see anything changing any time soon! I hope wish and pray we can land in a better situation but I don’t see our current AD doing what needs to be done!️??

CUSA has nothing to do with our recruiting abilities. If anything it opens up more regions and our exposure.

I say it has LOT'S to do with our recruiting. Or lack there of. No TV exposure at all. EXPOSURE did you say? Our own newspaper hardly covers us, I'm sure San Antonio and El Paso are all over the Monarchs coming. Extra time away from school and practice to play these teams. Just traveling to Texas is a journey. Why the heck are we even in a league where we have to go all the way to Texas to play a regular season during the week game? Championship game is not on ESPN.
This is a horrible league. I've been going to basketball games since 1971 and it's gotten to where I don't care anymore. Who are these people we are playing anyway? I just don't care.

Well it might not mean nothing to you. But it means the world to kids we would like to get into the program. My question is; What have we got to lose? Bryant Stith would be a huge boost and I'm almost positive his hiring would bring media attention much like Chris Mullins brought to St. Johns.

RE: Basketball Head Coach Search Thread
Is there any close to objective way to know how JJ's recruiting compares to other schools in CUSA? Most of the disadvantages to recruiting this league apply to all schools equally ( distance, poor perception etc).
I guess what confuses me is seeing schools like W&M being able to recruit fairly good bigs and other schools able to recruit 3 pt shooters. JJ, it seems, not so much.
How do folks view the recruiting discrepancies? real or imagined?

As compared to CUSA, why would you think his recruiting would be less than stellar?
As for big men, they've had Painter, Stith, Porter, etc. Those guys are way better than any big William and Mary has had besides Knight.
