RE: Unofficial 2021 Football Recruiting Thread
Dear emu79,
Just goes to show that nothing stands still. A ton of these recruits are from Ohio. Is that the new hotbed, or just the players that Eastern is offering?

California, Texas, and Florida are 1,2, and 3, because of size! But, Ohio is right up there along with Pennsylvania!

Couple of thoughts:
1). Ohio has very good h.s. football.
2). C.C. does not like to offer recruits too early. They have completed their junior years. I assume he has seen many at camps. and is ready to move on them. Many will come to the EMU camp in June.
3). I expect early offers to come from MI, Ohio, IL, etc. and later offers after recruits do the EMU camps in June. Those camps serve virtually like a combine for college coaches. A chance of observe players in a highly controlled, structured, etc. environment. E.g., just think of a Grissom. If he attended those camps, his size, speed, agility, etc. would stand out in comparison to his fellow campers.

Ken, Ohio has been a hotbed for a long time, just ask Dantonio. Roback's parents had a shorter drive to Ypsilanti than many of our Michigan player's parents so EMU is a logical choice for much of Ohio.
High school athletics are very BIG there. They have two NBA-NFL cities but they are located at the extreme north and south ends of the state. Their most populated city has their only Power 5 college program. Thus they have a totally different sports model in relation to Michigan and their interest in HS sports is diametrical as well. They are not as crazy as Texas but Lima, Dayton, Canton, Warren and Youngstown can actually sell out a stadium for a high school football game, it is the biggest game in their town.

I suggest that these data correlates very highly with success in the FCP. FB has really become a sun belt type thing. B1G schools really need to recruit well nationally to compensate.

For what it's worth, EMU has a ton of new 2021 verbal offers out according to prospects Tweeting.

I think its important for CC to recruit southeastern michigan because theres talent here that other MAC teams have no issue snagging. i like the weird foreign pipeline we've got going. id love it if we recruited chicago-land more too.

Almost all of the 2021 offers to date are to MI, IN, OH, and IL recruits.

I'm guessing this is a PWO.

BTW, this makes sense. These are the players we would be most familiar with and have followed the longest. Presumably they have been mostly seen at camps ahead of their junior year.
These are players who might be candidates for the June EMU camps and further evaluation.
In a sense these summer camps are analogous to the AAU circuit in boys basketball.
College coaches get a good chance to evaluate them during the off season (summer).

I'm sure that's why 'Nickle suggested that he is a PWO. We'll see.
That said, not bad to be getting players from Milan.

Yes, it is. CMU signed his Football North Prep teammate in December, DE Cade Cote (6-4, 230).
FIRE UP CHIPS! :)
