RE: Final AAC & G5 Recruiting Rankings
I've seen it said this is our best recruiting class ever, but there's only 14 players so the overall ranking is dragged down.

It is. We have one of the highest average ranking per recruit in the G5. Only reason we’re low is because of size and that’s because we could only take so little this year. I bet Memphis has finishes 1st in the AAC in recruiting next year.

Temple has never really had high classes regardless of the recruiting site, but often over achieves on the field. My guess is wherever Temples primary recruits come from are underrated or they are able to retain most of their class for 3-4 years.
With the number of NFL players we have, we’re obviously doing something right, so I’m not going to get too worried when they barely watch anyone in the Northeast play.
Class ranking is like a sport unto itself. The ranking is nice, but not nearly as nice as winning.

I love recruiting rankings. Rivals.com is so spot on, can't miss, and so objective every year* They never miss!

True or not, this is what the collective ECU psyche needs. Positive yet subjective information regarding the football program and it's direction. A glimmer of hope, if you will.

ECU's big problem hasn't been recruiting rankings, it's been horrible coaching and not retaining players. I don't know if this class for ECU is actually top 3 in the league or less than that, but what matters is that the majority of it make it to be contributing upperclassmen.

Top 10 Rankings based on Average Player Rating:
1. Cincy (84.96)
2. Memphis (84.40)
3. SMU (84.33)
4. Boise (84.11)
5. Houston (83.89)
6. USF (83.61)
7. UCF (83.53)
8. FAU (83.50)
9. UNT (83.32)
10. Tulane (83.29)
AAC has the top 3, 6 of the top 7, and 7 of the top 10.
*New Mexico is technically 4th with an 84.18 rating, but they only have 1 commit so I left them out since every other team on this list has at least 11 commits (FAU).

Here's all you need to know. Rivals has Davonte Brown from UCF rated as a "lowly" 2 star.
He plays at powerhouse American Heritage in Miami.
His offers: UCF, Miami, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, BG, Akron, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, UNC, NC State, NIU, Pitt, Rutgers, USM, Temple, and WVU.
And yet I've seen numerous "4 stars" committing to ACC programs that have maybe 3-4 mid tier ACC offers.

Rivals is awful, 247 is biased too, but they at least update the ratings every once in a while.

This is the only thing that matters. Large recruiting classes consisting of average or below average players does nothing but keep you average.

All the sites do this stuff. They will selectively re-evaluate players once they get certain offers or commit to certain schools, but if they commit early to a non-power school or pick one over P5 offers they'll manage to never get around to it.

The average ranking can be deceptive too because if you take a flyer or two with low ratings, it yanks down the average quite a bit. And then none of them include the non jc transfers.

If they got any mushies and My Dear Mother Annie, I could go for an old fashion Hippy Flip.

I thought the same thing. ECU fans need to start referring to him as Coach Houston.

247 at least responds when called out about changing a recruits ranking.

we can't have it both ways: bragging about all the 2 stars we put in the NFL and then complain when they don't properly rate our signees. i prefer underrated to overrated. it's why we have more players in the NFL than over 30 so called power 5 programs.
