Either way, it's incredibly exciting that he's got a chance at getting NBA minutes. He'd be just the 3rd player in UNCW history to make a Pro appearance, and the first since March 16, 1997 when Matt Fish appeared for the last time in his NBA career, with the Miami Heat.
OR, you could see this as a way to collect his jerseys everywhere he goes.
Not a bad idea either!

Not to hijack the thread...but that's the problem with McGrath. I am sure he knows basketball way better than me - but somehow he has all these parts of a machine that he both does not seem to know how to optimally utilize, nor how to orchestrate together for their best advantage. The whole is less than the sum of its parts.
For crying out loud, last year we had the #1 double-double guy in America, the #2 assist guy in America, and the #1 3pt shooter (unofficially due to # of attempts) in the CAA....and the team still sucked. That's on the coach.

For the sake of one of the greatest players to ever wear a UNCW jersey, please let us not derail this thread and divulge into another back and forth on a topic that is thoroughly discussed and exhausted on nearly every other thread we have.

You are, of course, correct.

Notice a lot of those he would have certainly tried to flush while at UNCW. His touch around the rim seems a lot more refined!

15/16. Wow. He looks like a man among boys at the G-League level.
The NBA Trade Deadline is tomorrow at 3 PM EST. Not sure if the Lakers are rumored to be looking to make any deadline deals, but any they make would potentially impact Cacok's ability to get called up in the latter half of the season.

I disagree. I think they do. The problem is the roster in front of him.
Given the opportunity I think he'd be fantastic on that team though, for sure.

Looking at the roster makup for the last few games, i'd say Vonte could bring more to that team than carrying a 3rd PG. Especially when Bron brings up the ball a ton what value does a 3rd PG have? Dudley also bringing very little.

Yep. Prior to the season it seemed like the Lakers didn't have much frontcourt depth, especially when Cousins tore his ACL.
But between Kyle Kuzma, Dwight Howard, JaVale McGee, Jared Dudley and Kostas Antetokounmpo working behind Anthony Davis, there was more depth than originally thought. Meanwhile, as we know, LeBron can play all 5 positions on the court.
Kuzma is the only major asset they MIGHT move at the deadline, but it seems unlikely. The Lakers probably don't want to watch him become a star elsewhere like Brandon Ingram predictably has become with the Pelicans post-trade. So aside from injuries, there might not be any opportunities for Cacok to see NBA minutes until next season.

Lakers do know what they have to an extent. They wouldn't have cut a guy to give that 2-Way spot to DC... However, he should still have gotten some minutes in the NBA by now. Lebron's lack of "load management" has been surprising this season. I'd imagine him and AD will dial it back a bit before the playoffs. Hopefully, that frees up some time for DC.

Lakers would move Kuzma if he wasn't still on his rookie deal. That contract makes it hard to match for the type of player they're looking for. Best thing to ever happen to Ingram was to get away from Lebron. He's been able to flourish as the number 1 option. I honestly think we've seen peak Kuzma, he's a really solid stretch 4. I don't see him having the ceiling of an All-Star like Ingram always had.

Just like the top CAA players wouldn't get as much playing time on the top schools, Cacok, Wright-Foreman, and Brantley are on G-League affiliates of great NBA teams. The Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference, while Utah with Wright-Foreman and Brantley (who has 3 NBA games) in the G-League is tied for fourth.
