RE: 2020 Depth Chart Discussion
As stated Safety has some holes. There may be some attacking this with numbers. NIU essentially needs three starters since the nickle in the defense has usually been a third Safety. I'd expect a grad transfer to come in. Thomas likely goes back to S as there are a number of young corners on the roster plus two 2020 commits. Corner is a position where it's not uncommon for young guys to play right away. Aiken was the stater before injury. There 4 safety commits in the 2020 class although I'd expect at least one of them to be moved to LB. You're also likely to see one or both of Walker and Romel Gaston moved to Safety as well.

I think the nickel has been a 3rd safety because of how good Foster was, not necessarily because that's how they want it to be.

The nickel has been a 3rd safety because we don't play a bunch of zero coverage or man free and spread teams still run the ball. the nickel acts as a LB mostly in this defense. That's why it was an easier transition to move Terry to LB. He was already playing it for all intents and purposes.

I'm guessing they leave Dillon Thomas at corner. He improved tremendously there as opposing teams targeted him relentlessly, and his length is an asset. Walker and Goston to safety would make sense. They have to be looking for transfers too.
I could see Mark Aitkin and DillonThomas at corner, backed up by JD Harris, Zhamaine March, Tyrik Henderson and freshmen. Harris looked pretty good before he got hurt.
That would leave Antwain Walker, Josh Earl, Romel Goston, freshmen and transfers at safety.

The overall depth level is worst in decades. DT is the only solid position on team. Unless RS and True freshman step up, gonna be another bad season

Freshmen are going to play on next years team that is for sure. So I'm hoping they have 25 good solid recruits coming in as they may need every one of them.

Safety’s position its a kid that didn’t see the field this year due to surgery should step in and be productive.
Is this true? Has Childers officially left? What is your source?

Is that inside info or just assumption?
As for the the young guys you mentioned, I think we will see Tyrik Henderson starting next year. Looked real good in high school and this full year getting bigger/stronger will only help.

No inside info, I'm just assuming based on the lack of numbers at that position.

Henderson was listed as a safety this year, but a corner while being recruited.

2020 Depth Chart Discussion
Just noticed Nick Rattin played Safety in high school. With the lack of depth at Safety next year, I wouldn't be surprised if Coach Hammock moves Rattin from LB to Safety.

We have something like 5 safeties coming in next year. Are all these guys going to be at safety? Or are some going to get moved to corner?

Eric Rogers

I was wandering around Chicago for my wife's birthday. We unfortunately ended up at a Miami Ohio bar for the MAC Championship. Hell on Earth exists...and it's being at a Miami Ohio bar for the MAC Championship your Huskies aren't in
