RE: Football Head Coach Search Thread
So I went back to the psu board. Some updates:
They're counting Twitter follows, Giles is somehow an insider, they like quoting Cal, and some dude works with a guy whose brother is a GA and coming to ODU with Rahne for realz except the guy he works with is a pathological liar.

They are easily fooled.

We want someone with FBS experience, preferably head coaching experience, but at least coordinator. He has to be young enough to connect with recruits. Preferably black. From the 757 or at least have ties to the 757. Offensive minded. Willing to keep Blackwell as DC and Stiney for recruiting. More encouraging than JJ, but less clappy than Bobby. And he better damn well insist on having cup holders installed in the stadium as part of his contract negotiation.
Did I miss anything?
Actually, yes... that sounds about like our perfect "unicorn" candidate. I'd say the one thing you missed is he preferably has "name recognition" that gets fans and recruits excited and shows the country we are serious about being a good FBS program. :)
and that he is in favor of beer sales in the stadium.

I've heard from a source close to the action that the reason why things look to have been delayed to Thursday is cause they couldn't get to a deal with Rahne. He was offered but they couldn't come to an agreement on terms. Working on their next option now.

If what you say is FACT, we whiffed. Woooooo hoooooo!
Hopefully our next option is a real offer, once we've learned we arent going to land anyone unless we pony the EF up.
Are we FBS or are we PeeWee?

I do not know if that is true or not but it would make sense based on the info I have heard as well. Rahne already makes a ton of money. Could be getting a raise and additional responsibilities at Penn State.

I hear Bobby Wilder is available. Unless FAU snaps him up again.

How many of the PSU board posters are hoping to spring Sandusky so he can rejoin the staff?

Not to take away from BT but even after seeing that, Psu board has insight on that end and thinks things are still on track.
I dont know, but ******* up free ice cream is what we do best, so I'm going to lean toward BT

I was really hoping to find a coach who had an offensive coordinator's background. I think that is our biggest need right now.

Thats odd. If he wanted to come, and we wanted him, went through the whole process etc, seems it would be easier to work out a deal than start over. Its not that hard to figure out what the job should pay. Unless we're trying to lowball someone for $600k one would think it would be doable.

And by "source" I mean "my desire to watch PSU fans descend into chaos". If I actually had a source that close to the action no way am I posting that info here (no offense to y'all, of course <3).
Sorry if I got y'all's hopes up/down but that board is a hoot and apparently will believe anybody who's an "insider" and has half a tweet of characters to spare.

At first I thought you meant Blaine Taylor in what would be THE most unlikely redemption arc I can think of.
I guess it's a testimonial to the state of ODU athletics, at least to some here, that the immediate reaction to "the two sides couldn't agree to terms" was "ODU screwed the pooch again" with no consideration given to "guess Rahne wanted more money than he merited."

Oh my god. I'm sorry if I spoiled the fun for everyone else but apparently my post riled them up enough that that thread is now behind the their 247 VIP paywall.
