RE: Football Head Coach Search Thread
Here's how I know half of the board is going to be unhappy, no matter who we select.

We want someone with FBS experience, preferably head coaching experience, but at least coordinator. He has to be young enough to connect with recruits. Preferably black. From the 757 or at least have ties to the 757. Offensive minded. Willing to keep Blackwell as DC and Stiney for recruiting. More encouraging than JJ, but less clappy than Bobby. And he better damn well insist on having cup holders installed in the stadium as part of his contract negotiation.

Did I miss anything?

Won't go for it on 4th and 5 from own 30 when up. That should be in the contract language somewhere.

Actually, yes... that sounds about like our perfect "unicorn" candidate. I'd say the one thing you missed is he preferably has "name recognition" that gets fans and recruits excited and shows the country we are serious about being a good FBS program. :)

So what you want costs more then ODU has. Did you send another $500,000 ha ha ha! That's the problem. This is a hamburger market and you guys want it to be South Florida market.

BTW, somewhat related. I was told by someone at ODU, they were told to get ready for state budget cuts at ODU. They are most likely coming. Enrollment is down.

The PSU board says there was an offer, which I believe to be true. But, I just assumed that the offer was a formality and it would be accepted, but I wonder if its possible the the offer was not accepted? This is slower than what I expected based on things I heard.

That's part of the "Cup Holder" clause in the contract.

Contract should also include a no inside zone run play clause as well as no running on goal line from shotgun.

Almost every team in America runs inside zone and if Rahne is the HC, we are going to run it a lot. (and run from shotgun)

If true, the three finalists are Rahne, TRob, and Marcus Freeman.

If TRob is hired, could we see a Bentley in our future?

By the way, TRob currently makes $1.2 million.

Interesting and strange. Something delayed the process.

If they are planning the announcement, that would at least imply the person has signed, or at least agreed verbally. It is interesting, but as long as we get answer this week, I would hope that gives the new person a chance to evaluate our recruits and convince them to stay with the program.

If the coach is indeed signed it could be the coach is already building their coaching staff. Though I feel like that would normally occur in the months after the hiring.
