Appy has no business playing in this bowl game. I'm more disappointed for App St. than feeling sorry for us.

FIU is just sort of a thud for both schools. Only real history is the few years in the SBC together, and there's no actual bad blood outside of my complete hate for TY Hilton.

Yep, SMU is no slouch. Sonny Dykes signed about 20 graduate transfers and 10 JuCos this year. So it will be like playing UAB again for FAU.

Other than UNCC, Western, got the worse bowl in matchup and distant

West made out like bandits in drive-able bowls and matchups vs Western, FIU, UNCC.

Just checked tickets for Western's bowl game...$100 from 30-30. If Western does not have cheaper tickets I will keep my ass at home. No way in hell I pay $100 (200 for 2 tickets) for this game

Dont know what they were thinking in not giving Western the bowl in Alabama...

easily 6 to 10k in basically a drive down spent the night bowl game

I agree it's a good matchup. FAU vs SMU is too but they should have sent FAU to play App. App really deserved a better bowl after their season this year.

Totally agree with your sentiments, no knock whatever on UAB but Appy deserved playing one of the P5 teams. When you are 20th in the nation there should be some reward.

Sun Belt has no tie-ins to a P5 bowl. My guess is, App. State was a given of selection of:

Mobile vs. Miami/OH (8-5) on ESPN
Montgomery vs. FIU (6-6) on ESPN
New Orleans vs. UAB (9-4) on ESPN
Orlando vs. Liberty (7-5) on CBS-SN
Tucson vs. Wyoming (7-5) on CBS-SN

and made their choice based mostly on network/location and maybe a little bit based on opponents’ W-L

Candid opinion: App. State puts more talent on the field. But Clark won’t be out-coached. App. will have to be motivated and focused or else they will lose.
