Not a bad matchup, and a nice trip for Illinois.

There is no possible way this can be finalized yet. Nothing is for sure in the Big Ten until we know where PSU and Wiscy are going.

Disagree. Think they can assume between Ohio St/Wisconsin/Penn St- going to get 3 teams... They can kind of have 2 scenarios… 1 where they place in the Orange Bowl(thus lose Citrus) and 1 where they don't.

They have 6 other bowl teams and with restrictions on bowls to avoid repeat sends- it's actually a fairly simple puzzle...

RE: 2019 official Bowl Thread
I think it’s dumb to have such short turnaround times for the smaller bowls. They start in 2 weeks. How are most fans expected to make arrangements during the holiday season. The first weekend games should be announced before anything else. I know it’s about TV and stuff, but that’s how I would do it.

Not really. They pay almost nothing (well $100K to $300K ... although often a significant chunk of that is in the form of tickets the participating school is allocated to sell), so the shorter the time the less expenses which build up. The big thing is the coaches get up to 12 extra practices (well with two weeks you probably only get in 7 or 8)

I got a puzzle for you then. What if Wiscy goes to the Rose and PSU goes to Orange Bowl. Where do all these Big ten teams go?

Mich, Minn,Iowa, Indy, ILL, MSU ?

LOL. Is Navy a lock for the Military?

I sure hope so. I got tickets, would love to see Navy play say Miami in Annapolis in snowy 25 degree weather.

I doubt it. You usually put your top ranked teams in the highest paying bowls.
Cincy should wind up in that game. The Military pays a little over $1m per school, which is the highest AAC tie-in.
Navy should wind up in the next highest, the TicketMaster Birmingham Bowl (vs. SEC school) which pays about $850K.

The third one by pay out is the Gasparilla Bowl, followed by the Cheribundi Boca Raton and R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowls.

But we'll see what they decide.

Mich, Minn,Iowa, Indy, ILL, MSU ?

They would fill these 6 bowls...
Outback
Holiday
Music City
Pinstripe
Red Box
Quick Lane

If PSU goes Cotton instead- Michigan goes Citrus most likely(to face Alabama most likely) and the other 5 go to the ones I listed, except for Quick Lane.

MSU is surely going to the QuickLane bowl in Detroit.

Outback can't take a team it's already taken since 2014 (5 teams in six years and Iowa has already gone twice). That means Michigan and Iowa are out. If Illinois is in the Redbox, that puts Minnesota or Indy in the Outback.

I'm guessing Iowa to the holiday. Michigan to the Gator.

Indy to Pinstripe?

Well that sucks.
What better option do they (or did they) have? Good for them winning the CCG, but they’re still an 8-5 MAC team.

They have 5 bowl ties. Gotta be one better than going to Mobile.

The money is shared equally between all the schools so it isn't much of a concern.

The AAC also has back ups to the Liberty and the Independence. The Liberty will likely take Cincy if open. The independence could go to Tulane or SMU. Some horse trading is likely since some conferences have too many teams and some too few.

SMU vs Air Force in the Armed Forces bowl could be a match up we see for example.

Cincy played in the Military Bowl last year, so that probably means they don't go this year.

I hope, and think, Navy plays in it, but as you say we shall see.

I know a segment of Navy fans hoping for the Liberty Bowl in the AAC backup slot.

Rumor mill is that Liberty likes Navy and the last time they were they brought a large contingent of fans.
