I do find it interesting that many were critical of Bobby for clapping too much and the same fans are critical of Jones for yelling too much. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wood Selig should have that engraved on his figurative odu tombstone.
What else has to fall apart for him to go????
All of this has occurred under his “leadership”.

Well there is a happy medium. I'm good with yelling, it's part of it. Not as good with so much yelling at dudes during the flow of the game, even less okay with the immediate benching as soon as somebody takes a shot he doesn't like. That stuff makes players think twice before they shoot , which kills their confidence and ultimately contributes to JJ's teams never being able to shoot.

and good coaches can recruit and get replacements when you know you're losing players.
Im sick of our peers leaving us in the dirt.
We were years behind on recruiting a big and guess what, the lack of depth is finally showing its ass as we have no one competent to compete down low.
What a fun season this is shaping up to be.

National Enquirer Article. John Wooden Rises From Grave. Takes ODU Head Coaching Job!!!
Moments after Wooden's first press conference, numerous posters on the ODU Fan Forum write to complain Mike Rhoades would have been a better choice than Wooden. A handful of posters gather outside Webb Center, cheerfully recalling the numerous Elite 8 appearances under Blaine Taylor, only to be reminded such appearances never took place. Then, later that evening, a half dozen posters were said to have stolen the 2018-2019 CUSA Championship Banner from Chartway Arena screaming, "We must burn this banner or someone might get the idea Jeff Jones is a successful coach!"

1 championship in 8 years at a program like ours in a crappy conference like CUSA is not a success story. Period.
It’s not even an acceptable performance quite frankly.

I agree that its not a major success, but it is true that the top 4 or 5 teams every year are pretty good, just not respected as they should be. It would very difficult to win this conference 50% of the time with squads like WKU, MTSU, UTEP in the mix. I do expect ODU to make it to the NCAA at least once every four years, whether by winning or at-large. That is what I would consider acceptable, but expected success. Less is below expectations, more is overachieving (like some of our peers have been doing lately). Hoping JJ has us on the right trajectory. This season has certainly been a disappointment, but Im still optimistic for next year.

No inside game, no offense, no FT shooters and no 3 pt shooters, The perception that kids should be better shooters than they are type same old same old. Most years a decent but entirely boring defense.

So is your point that you care more about style of play than results? Not saying I disagree with the desire to see more fun, but your point is related to how the teams plays, not whether they win or lose.

Really wish I understood how your brain works. Some of the inferences you draw from others statements seem very concrete and literal. Also slightly argumentative merely for the sake disagreeing. Or do you disagree

RE: Jeff Jones Appreciation Thread
I don’t really care about style of play that much. I’m kind of a basketball purest. I can get enjoyment out of any type of game. High possession, low possession. Great offense. Great defense. Whatever. But as an ODU fan, I just want to see the team win. We’ve been a lower possession defensive team for a while now. And I’m fine with that as long as we are at least pretty good, which we have been. With that being said... if we are going to suck, and have no inside threat and not be able to attack the basket in the half court... we better speed it the f up. If we are playing losing basketball... which ODU hasn’t done in along time. And when I say losing basketball I mean shoot less than 40 percent in every game and LOSE more than we win. (Precisely how this season has started) If we are going to suck I Want to see us play 10 guys, go small and just run up and down and fire up shots. Play as hard as u can and just let it go. Screw it, if the bigs are going to suck this bad just put 4 or 5 guards on the floor like we are a MEAC team. At least then people might still want to watch. Scoring 40ish points and losing is unacceptable. Especially on a regular basis.

Jeff Jones Appreciation Thread
For those of you who tout JJ's one tournament appearance/conference championship in his 7th season, and say anyone who expects more is expecting too much from lil ol' ODU, I ask you this. Who is the worst Division 1 coach ODU has had?

They have had what 5 or 6 coaches ever?
The answer would be Jeff Capel.

1 NCAA tournament, and a win no less, in what, 5 years. He shouldn't have been fired by this board's standards for JJ.

Winning 20 games in a terrible conference with a terrible ooc strength of schedule is NOT a noteworthy accomplishment anymore.
In the good old days of the caa it was definitely an accomplishment.
Now it’s meaningless, it doesn’t even get you into the nit.
