I could see him going back to South Florida.

Was McCray a good friend of his?

Nope. He's hired two friends so far; Jones and Finwood. And he's hired a lot more than two coaches.

They had worked together at WKU when she was an assistant there. They already had a "friendship".

https://www.dailypress.com/sports/colleg...olumn.html

"Not to be overlooked, and a key component of McCray's arrival in Norfolk: She worked as an assistant coach at Western Kentucky from 2006-08, when Selig was the Hilltoppers' athletic director."

Of the current coaches, we have seen Selig hire replacements in swimming and diving, both tennis programs, field hockey, women's golf, lacrosse, rowing, and volleyball (as well as the sports already mentioned). So even if you included McCray, he's 3 for 11 in hiring friends. That's not a trend.

FWIW: Both tennis coaches are top notch and these are possibly the best programs at ODU (sailing probably competes but isn't recognized).

Larry Fedora....lol what!?!

I wonder if Zohn is gaining steam or they are just pegging anyone with ties to the area.

As I questioned in another post last October, where does all this Taggart love come from??

His total HC record is 56-62. His only winning program record was the one season at Oregon, 7-5

He was 16-20 in three seasons overall at WKU, with his best season record of 7-5 (2), at the program most resembling our own.
He was 24-25 in four seasons at South Florida.
He was 9-12 in less than two seasons at Fla State in what can only be described as an abject disaster.

Not sure another FBS program gambles on him while hurt, and he's got a better shot to play here. Nothings for certain, but Id be surprised to see Wolff go unless he hates the new hire.

I agree with your overall point, but I don't think Wolff's injury is a big deal that would prevent him from moving on if he so desired. He was a game time decision Saturday, so I don't think it's anything serious.

There is an ODAF "State of Football Program" discussion this Thursday (5th). This will be the ask of donors to pony up for $1M+ for a head coach and $350k+ for coordinators. I guess we'll see how that meeting goes once a hire is made, but at least they're going for it.

For those on the board invited, get your wallets out!

PS. I will not be there.... too rich for my blood.

He was/is top 3 about a month ago with Huff and Beamer.

I have little doubt that ODU had an internal list already prepared before the final decision was made.

Ybbob Redliw, who looks exactly like Bobby Wilder except he has a monocle and an evil mustache that he twiddles after every sentence for effect.

I presume most ADs have evergreen lists of coaching targets that they update regularly in the event that they lose theirs. It's hard to think of an FBS program that starts from scratch on a search, though I suppose it happens.

Probably not going to be a friend this time. If it was, they'd need a national search committee to find him.

I heard the same thing but without the figures you quoted. The meeting makes sense and gives the big donors the opportunity to step forward and influence the decision.

And I will not be there either.

Then we better re-hire Stiney, because that ****** couldn't recruit to save his life.*

*Wait, Fed or Zohn was top 3 (because I was talking about Fedora)?
