There is no such thing as some other bowl gets second choice. A school can certainly decline the invitation of bowl #2 if they like bowl #3 better (and bowl #3 wants them.)

I’m also not sure I believe Cajun logic that they can just turn down Mobile. The League is extremely unlikely to sanction such a move given mobile’s propensity to play jilted lover

I have never heard anyone say the Cajuns would turn down the bowl game in Mobile if that's where we were sent there. We are not Louisiana Tech. Our players deserve to play in a bowl game. Of course most fans would prefer the NO Bowl, but we have to win next weekend for that. Maybe we will.

Personally, I am not sure I would want to attend a game at the current stadium in Mobile. I have never been there but I have heard really bad things about the stadium...

I have to back off on something. I said the #2 choice could turn down the bid and opt for somewhere else. That may not be the case.

I'd have no problem with Mobile if it werent for the date.

All the talk here around GS has us going to either Montgomery or Orlando

BOP suggested it a couple posts ago with the whole "remember, a school can turn down a bowl invite" thing. But he corrected himself soon after.

I just don't see any way that Mobile decides they'd rather take one of the 7-5 teams over you guys. Maybe if AState or Southern had gotten to 8-4, but that didn't happen.

That s my thinking too which leaves Montgomery Orlando and Tucson to choose in that order between Ga Southern Ark St and Ga State.

If you look very closely, the participating homeowners are wearing CITY-ISSUED reflective clothing (for the most part) as well.

Even though I CAN'T WAIT for Hancock-Whitney next year, do not ever hesitate to park safely, in one of Mobile's SAFEST NEIGHBORHOODS (crime-wise, statistically speaking) to come see any event of interest at our city's historic, crumbling venue. I'd worry more about the infrastructure of LP than the off-site parking options...for REAL, people!

I loved the Dollar General Bowl when I went. Mobile is a super fun town for a night or two, and uh let me be clear, I was not in a perfect state of mind on gameday but I don't remember thinking the stadium was in a sketchy area at all. If that's where we end up I won't go this year because it's such a long ways, but it definitely seems to be getting a bad rep on here and I don't know why. I had a great experience there.

It’s not great. It’s just an old stadium in a residential area some people find scary but I’ve not been ill at ease there.

Facilities suck but we’ve all suffered through old stadium bathrooms and old concession stands.

Get a room at the Renaissance walk to numerous bars and restaurants that will be flying your flags and showing your colors. It’s a blast because your fans take over downtown, you see people wearing your gear all over downtown

No word on whether it's Ark State or Georgia State that go to Arizona, but all signs point to Southern in Orlando.

Bonagura's logic here is that Liberty will backfill the Sun Belt's absence in Arizona. The other four bowl commitments are filled and App fills in with the Belk Bowl. Generally speaking, these two at ESPN seem to lack knowledge of specific tie-ins and contracts but sometimes, later in the year, they have some inside knowledge of ideas that ESPN is pushing. There could be something to it or it could simply be a lack of understanding that the champ has to go to New Orleans. Or he knows that the champ goes to New Orleans, believes Louisiana wins, and that the Sun Belt/Charlotte/ESPN/ACC work out a deal to drop Arizona and get App into the Belk Bowl?

Depending on the opponent, App would probably bring 25,000 fans to the game itself. Obviously that would be a much better turnout than any other bowl destination currently. Myrtle Beach in 2020 could be an opportunity, depending on the opponent (AAC team priority/Sun Belt team priority) for a huge turnout from App fans. However, as we know now the champ goes to NOLA so you hope for a solid destination that changes against a championship. Championship wins out obviously.
