Yes, Clemson could very well win the national title again this year, but that won't change the fact that the ACC has been very bad. Titles are about one team, not a league.

The last year someone other than Clemson won an NY6 bowl was 2014, and that isn't likely to change this year.

1. LSU will demolish UGA. The game will be close for maybe a half but UGA offense is too generic to hang with LSU firepower.

I think this is unlikely. Remember, LSU only scored 23 points against Auburn, and Georgia's defense is as good as Auburn's, arguably better.

Georgia is an extremely talented, well-coached team, and will be playing basically at home. I say the game is pretty much a 50-50 affair.

Texas A&M will upset LSU, I thought I read that comment somewhere 03-drunk

LSU, Ohio St. and Oregon win and they probably do make it. Oregon isn't going to jump them with 2 losses. Georgia isn't going to jump them after losing.

But it would require that scenario where they come in at #4 after the Big 12 champ, LSU and Ohio St. If Utah or Georgia win, then they are out with a loss.

Right now Jerry Palm has Penn St. in the Orange vs. Virginia. It would not surprise me to see UVA win that game

We all know that anything can happen in a football game, but there is ZERO factual reason to think Penn State won't beat Virginia handily. Look at UVA's record:

Losses

Beaten handily by Notre Dame, 35-20

Beaten 17-9 by going nowhere 6-6 Miami team, A Miami team that would be 5-6 without their win over UVA.

Beaten 28-21 by a 7-5 Louisville team that got shellacked by Kentucky yesterday.

Wins

Two of their nine wins are against Old Dominion and William and Mary. Another is against Liberty.

Their other wins are against Pitt, Georgia Tech, FSU, VT, UNC, and Duke. Is *any* of them a good win? The best record in the bunch is over VT, now 8-4. All the other teams are 7-5, 6-6, or worse.

So there is little reason to think Penn State won't dominate them. Virginia has played a very soft schedule - their OOC schedule is awful and they played an ACC Coastal schedule and yet lost 3 games against it.

Utah’s wins are very similar as well. Granted they have only one loss but if their resume is compared to several teams in the top 25 including the G5 teams, their resume is not great. The best thing they did was lose early and then kept on winning. From an eye test perspective, they look good as well but I don’t know if they have beaten a team with more then 7 wins.

Utah had 4 P5 wins over losing teams, a G5 win over a losing team, an FCS win over a losing team, 1 P5 win over a 6-6 team and 4 wins against teams with winning records-all 7-5, 3 of them Pac 12 + BYU. The only team with a better record than 7-5 they played was 8-4 USC who beat them.

There is no way Baylor is going to jump Utah. Laughable if people believe that. They blew a game and a huge lead at home. Neutral field or Norman fine, but not at home. And the OOC is ****.

And I’m not sure about OU either. The better defense will get the nod and a dominating Utes performance may vault them in.

On paper, Penn State should beat them by 28. However, teams with resumes and expectations like Penn State tend to play down to their competition in games like that. Going from top 5 to playing against an 8-4 scrub whose best win is Pitt has to be a letdown.

Good point. It will be very hard for Penn State to get up for Virginia.

It'll be interesting to see if Palm(who is not a good bracketologist by the way)- has it right that Penn St will be ahead of Alabama. No lock at all.

Also, not sure why Wisconsin would go over Penn St to the Rose, when PSU will be ahead of Wisconsin in the ratings.

Yes, it will be interesting to see if the SEC or B1G gets the Orange Bowl.

Thing is though, because there is only one at-large spot this year, the SEC could have 5 top 13 or 14 teams and only two make the NY6.

1. LSU
2. Ohio State
3. Clemson
4. Oklahoma/Baylor

If one through three win as expected, there is what the top 4 will be.

PAC will be left out.

I'm sticking to my belief that LSU will destroy Georgia this weekend. Again, we will see how this post ages.

RE: Utah, Georgia, Oklahoma and the CFP
lets see how it should look on Tuesday
1 Ohio St/LSU
2 LSU/Ohio St
3 Clemson
4 Georgia
5 Utah
6 Oklahoma
7 Baylor

after that it gets really murky. going into this weekend-
Alabama 5, Minnesota 8, Penn St 10, Florida 11, Wisconsin 12, Michigan 13, Oregon 14, Auburn 15

Does Alabama fall behind Penn St? I dunno. Losing by 3 points on the road to a top 15 team shouldn't drop you much. How much does Wisconsin jump?

I also think Palm is wrong about Utah. He's got them losing to Oregon. Why would Utah then drop less than Alabama and into the Cotton Bowl? That makes no sense at all.

I just think Utah not playing anyone is going to have a huge step up in weight class vs Oregon. The one decent team they played they got killed by. Oregon at least had 2 good opponents, winning one by 32 and the close loss to Auburn.

Why Utah has dominated PAC similar to OSU dominating BIG. Utah opens as a 4.5 favorite.
