Boise State & Cotton Bowl
I hate that they (BS) are still lurking and are still in conversation for the cotton bowl potential contender. They have no Top 25 wins and barely squeaked by Co. St. yesterday. They will play Hawaii their final game-the team that they have beaten very convincingly in Oct.
If we win next week, we shall most definitely secure the Cotton bowl; and if we lose a close one, I'm afraid the committee would pick BS in favor or Cincy, based on their 1 loss and may move up in the polls.
We control our own destiny.
I hope coach is planning a few trick plays for Brady to get open and make plays like we did last night with Antonio Gibson. GTG!
Your thoughts?

SOS and quality wins will be the determining factor IMO and reason/logic will prevail. As long as we take care of business these conversations will be moot.

If we win I believe we're an absolute Cotton Bowl slam dunk. If Cincinnati wins I think, based on the strength of schedule of both, they have a puncher's chance to get in.

If we win its automatic. The committee has already ranked us higher than Boise, and we will play someone tougher than Boise will play.

We are playing in a Cotton bowl elimination game for us. I don't know if it is an entry game for Cincy if they win. Hopefully for the sake of conference payout it is.

The only thing that we worries me about Boise is that they are a media darling. Everybody loves them. It would suck if the CFP committee jumped them over the Tigers by one spot.

Not that it matters but Rece, Kirk, and Gameday crew agreed this morning that AAC champ no matter who it is should go to Cotton Bowl.

We win we get picked for Cotton. We lose Boise State gets picked. Pretty simple, we have to win just like we have had to win every game since we lost to Temple.

All depends on this week's playoff rankings. If by some chance Cincinnati is still ranked above BSU this week then whoever wins the AAC title game gets the bid.

Why would Cincinnati move up in the rankings after they lost?

I hate that the AACs bowl tie ins are so bad. The loser next week will probably be playing someone from CUSA or the Sun Belt.

Cinci is currently ranked ahead of Boise St. The question is, would the committee drop Cindy below Boise due to a loss at highly ranked Memphis. If Cindy is still ranked ahead of Boise St this week, then the AAC CCG is a play-in game for the cotton bowl.
And even if the committee does rank CIndy below Boise St, is there a chance Cindy jumps Boise the following week if the beat highly ranked Memphis? Cindy would have a top 15 win, and the two losses would be away losses to the #1 and #16 teams in the nation. Boise has nothing to compare to that.

Why would you think he is saying that? If Cincy only drops one or two spots then beats us, they could jump Boise.

They would deserve to, but that's where the media darling thing factors in, in favour of Boise. Boise hasn't done **** this year.

Everything is based on this week's rankings. If Cincy drops below BSU then their only chance would be if Hawaii wins.

Navy lost the chance of going to a nY6 bowl because they lost to Army AFTER the last poll and AFTER they won the conference championship. There is no more poll after this week, but the committee chooses the highest ranked team during the selection process.
