There was a representative from the Independence Bowl at the game Saturday. He stopped by our tailgate.

I'm warming up to seeing UAB play in the Birmingham Bowl now. I would think Memphis would bring a great crowd but it would be cool to see Cincy, Navy, or UCF as well.

should we play in the Birmingham Bowl it will give ESPN plenty of opportunities to highlight the new facilities and the ongoing construction of Protective Stadium. Could turn out to be a 3-hour promo for UAB football!

I highly doubt Memphis will be the other team. Plus, they was just here last year.

It wouldn't be a 3 hour promo but it would be great exposure for UAB and the City of Birmingham.

if we lost, would we still have our streak going? Since it wouldn't officially be a home match, but a neutral site?

I’m fairly certain it wouldn’t count as a home game for our unbeaten record or breaking the streak (if we lost). I’m not sure how much UAB does for the Bham Bowl other than “host” it...it’s an ESPN bowl. And if we indeed were matched up with Navy, you can count on a 70/30 fan advantage for them. 60/40 at best.

The Navy tends to fly in/bus in hundreds of sailors for bowl games. Pensacola is not that far away. But, I wouldn't go as far to claim a fan disadvantage. They aren't going to bring 20-30 thousand.

You also have Navy folks in the immediate area who never get to see them play. That's true of most every bowl that lands a service academy. Navy may not be their #1 team, but they'll go almost out of duty. But, yeah, it may not be as bad as 70/30, but there's a reason bowls love to get the SAs when they can.

I’m good with any bowl on the mainland and a little birdie told me that Hawaii and Bahamas are definitely out of the picture.

Hearing strong Shreveport rumors from within but I really don’t want to play VT or FSU this year. I’d rather play a AAC opponent. No NO bowl and AP State. Best team they have ever had and legit top 20 team IMHO

Anybody, any time, any place, any where!!! Whoooo!!!

With that said bham sounds ok, depending on opponent.
Would he funny if we got UT again.

I'd like to see the team play App state. Last year was the best time. Cant keep harping about folks scared to play us and we shy away from them. I can see where we would wont them when we have our best players available
