Losing to JMU is probably going to be the low point of the season. This will be the worst loss on our record. Those of you (and me) who complain about the quality of this conference, we just contributed to it being a one bid league.

We knew we would struggle early in the season, but losing to JMU at home is inexcusable. Really disappointed in this team tonight.

It was a bad result and a disappointing effort except in spurts (and also JMU hit a lot of big shots, let's not act like they were a bunch of ham-and-eggers that stumbled into a set of JMU uniforms and were gifted a win).

But upsets happen. I'm guessing Syracuse wasn't all that happy with losing to ODU at home. Or Kentucky to Evansville. Or any of the other upsets that happen. If it's a teachable moment and not the beginning of the end, it won't matter that much past the sting of losing to the Harrisonburg Monitors at home.

I take solace in the fact that we were down 15 with 4min to go. we earned this loss.

As Cyniclone stated, this better provide JJ some coaching ammo to get the players to focus so we can win the CUSAT to get that critical #14 seed again.

Send his ass out on a beer run. Beers gone, wine’s gone but still have the makings for White Russian here but my kids are 10 and 3 so that’s on me and the missus. I’m gonna drain this one and go to bed and hopefully the world doesn’t end while I’m asleep. This was a bad loss, very disappointing and inexcusable based on the effort we gave. I’m still looking forward to some Monarch basketball this season though. Stock up boys and Go Monarchs!

Maybe ODU should decide they don't want to be that anymore and act accordingly. It's working for the yellow sheep up 64. In any case, this loss sucks, but I still expect us to be good, but not great this season. Maybe this will be a wakeup call. Was thinking Loyola was that. Hopefully a 20 win season and a C-tournament is in the cards this season. Anything more than that is exceeding expectations this year. Next year, I honestly hope to be an at-large worthy and dare I dream, top 25-ish team

Totally agree. I saw this same crap as usual in the 2020 recruiting thread the other day. “We should be good next year.” We say it every year. I’m not a complete Jones hater, but I am so tired of seeing him absolutely cuss out these kids for making mistakes.

Someone asked the other day why shooters don’t come here...who in their right mind would want to play here knowing if you miss you’re getting your ass chewed out.

After reading a lot of the preseason posts about how talented our young players were, I was mildly excited for the season. I’ve only actually seen two games...Northern Iowa and tonight...but I’ve got to say I don’t see much to be impressed with. Dreadful shooting, no discernible offense and yet another year of free throw shooting at a rec league level. Wade is impressive, but who else?

I imagine we’ll get better, but I see a lot of frustrating games ahead of us. Why can’t we ever freaking shoot the damn ball!!!! And why, why do we have to talk about poor free throw shooting every damn year? First that horror show on the grid iron and now this. Sometimes it hurts to be an ODU fan.

I never said jones was horrible I said I was scared to death that he’d be just good enough to not get fired but never good enough to get us anywhere that matters.
