I'm glad Cincy won (on paper) but it seems the Bulls were the far better team and deserved the win. Regardless, UC moves on (modestly so, admittedly).

USF must rank among the best teams in the country with a losing record.

Sickening loss. I mean, just ridiculous.

Cincy never led until after the clock hit :00.

Yes, i am filled with bitterness.

Don't be bitter, Quo. At our age, as long as we have our prostates in good working order ... we're doing fine.

Actually a good result for the Big 12. Expect Baylor to drop very little while Oklahoma may rise a couple spots.

except now the only possible playoff participant scenario- Baylor undefeated- is gone..... Big 12 is pretty much eliminated right now.

OU's in good shape. Alabama is sitting #5 w/o a QB, almost no chance of a conference title and possibly the whole season w/o a win over a ranked team (Auburn will be right at the edge if Alabama beats them).

Auburn won't be close to the edge if Alabama beats them. 8-4 and they're in the top 20, forget the top 25...

Oklahoma needs to have both Oregon and Utah lose a game to have any shot at all whatsoever...

The PAC is sitting well with Oregon and Utah at 6/7. The XII needs Oklahoma to beat Baylor again the CCG for any hope. If I were to project, I’d say:
CFP Peach Bowl: #1 LSU vs #4 Oregon
CFP Fiesta Bowl: #2 Ohio St vs #3 Clemson
NY6 Rose Bowl: Utah vs Penn St
NY6 Orange Bowl: Virginia Tech vs Georgia
NY6 Sugar Bowl: Alabama vs Oklahoma
NY6 Cotton Bowl: Minnesota vs Cincinnati

If Georgia wins out and edges L.S.U. in the CCG there's a great chance that both get in. L.S.U. has by far the strongest resume' and Georgia will be SEC champs.

IMO this is the only way the SEC gets 2 in. If Alabama wins out I think the best they'll do is the Sugar Bowl.

I don't see Oklahoma jumping Oregon or Utah. Baylor's out. If LS.U. beats Georgia the winner of Utah and Oregon will be in.

But, what if Michigan beats Ohio State, Wisconsin beats Minnesota, Penn State beats Ohio State, and Wisconsin beats Penn State? The Big 10 is out.

How do we know what Ohio State really has with regard to the rest of the football world? Right now the Big 10 could be great, or they could all be average. There are no real or valid comparisons.

Right now every team in the top 8 has merely been voted there. Maybe we have the top 4 and maybe we don't.

Totally agree with you on almost everything.

The really interesting scenario is where Penn St beats Ohio St and wins the Big Ten. PSU gets in obviously- but what about Ohio St? They would be in that mix with Oregon/Utah, Alabama(if they beat Auburn big with back up QB), and Oklahoma. We could easily see Ohio St in along with Penn St.

Might be one of those years where 6-8 teams have cases as opposed to 5-6 teams without a vintage Bama team running the SEC. UGa over LSU would open things up.

I really don't think it would open things up. Especially if it's close with Georgia/LSU- LSU is going to get in- and it's going to be frankly pretty easily...

All of this is fun to speculate about but the most likely scenario is this:
Ohio State runs the table.
Clemson runs the table.
L.S.U. runs the table.
Georgia picks up a 2nd loss.
Penn State picks up a 2nd loss.
Minnesota picks up a 2nd loss.
Oregon and Utah meet in the PAC CCG and the winner gets the 4th slot.
Oklahoma goes to the Sugar Bowl to play Alabama and the big storyline is Hurts against his old team.
Florida heads to the Orange Bowl to play Virginia Tech
Penn State plays the Utah/Oregon loser in the Rose Bowl.

The rest of the Bowls clamor for Auburn, Minnesota, Michigan, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Wisconsin because after those the rest really stink this year. And those will be the schools that will travel well.

PAC is Utah / Oregon and not much else.

Big 12 will be Oklahoma and Baylor and Baylor isn't a big draw and Texas already has 4 losses.

I pity bowls with tie ins to the ACC. With Clemson in the CFP and Va Tech likely committed to the Orange who else is there?

Yeah but I think one of the top three will get picked off, most likely LSU in Atlanta vs UGa.

Wonder if Minnesota can slip in if they run the table. I didn’t think they could afford to lose PSU at home and losing to Iowa on the road isn’t as bad. You might have to snub the PAC 12 in that case.

LSU 13-0
Clemson 13-0
OSU 12-1
Minn 12-1
Oregon 12–1
OU 12-1
Bama 11-1

Unlikely but possible. OSU probably in barring a no show in Indianapolis.

We’re getting two SEC teams in this playoff. And hope Ohio State wins out. It will diminish the one-loss worthiness chatter.

And Georgia could very well beat LSU. LSU is a flawed team, their defense is bad, they gave up 400 yards on the *ground* to a 4-6 Ole Miss team yesterday.

The playoffs could very well be #1 Ohio State vs #4 LSU and #2 Clemson vs #3 Georgia, with PAC and Big 12 sidelined.

Notre Dame is unlikely to make the Orange Bowl, because of the stacked roster of SEC teams in front of them. Even with Auburn losing, and even if two SEC teams make the playoffs, that would still leave Florida in the Orange Bowl.

The Cotton Bowl is a stronger possibility, but at #16 in the CFP, they need to rise to at least #12. Fortunately, teams ahead of them like Wisconsin and Michigan could lose again.

I'd say right now, Notre Dame has about a 33% chance of being in the Cotton Bowl, a 66% chance of it being the Citrus Bowl vs an SEC team like Auburn.

The Citrus Bowl is an ACC bowl ONLY when the Orange Bowl gets a Big Ten team.

The committee is going to be really hard pressed to pick Alabama over a 1 loss conference champ. It would totally have to be on the eyeball test and contradict everything they have ever said before (not that it would be the first time they have totally contradicted themselves).

If Georgia loses to LSU (probable) in the CCG, they’re out. Just like last year.

This isn't helping Oklahoma though. They need Oregon and Utah to both lose. That's what they're up against. Also, they need LSU to beat Georgia. And Ohio St to beat Penn St.
