Although GCU looks to be in 2nd, there are still quite a few teams that could grab it.
While there is a chance GCU falls out of 2nd place, the odds are certainly in their favor.
GCU and UMKC have 6 matches left and UTRGV has 5. They all still play MMSU once so let's assume that is a loss for each team and NMSU runs the board (although GCU played without their best setter/defender when the two teams met last time).
UMKC & UTRGV still must face off against each other so someone losses there.
GCU has already swept UMKC and beaten UTRGV so I assume most ties would go GCU's way. GCU also plays four of their remaining six matches at home (including UTRGV & NMSU). If I were a betting man, I'd put my money on GCU finishing 2nd.

Here are my final predictions:
NMSU 16-0
GCU 13-3
UMKC 12-4
UTRGV 9-7
UVU 9-7
CBU 7-9
CSUB 5-11
Seattle 1-15
Chicago St 1-15 (giving CSU a victory over SU 04-rock)

Of course, since GCU was picked to finish 7th, I would not mind finishing 3rd. Either way it has been a great season compared to all the miserable ones in the past.

That is a remarkable turnaround. To make it truly a good season though, GCU needs to spoil that 16-0. Or maybe not....save it for the tournament final.

Lopes come away with a win over UTRGV tonight which gets them very close to clinching 2nd place. Extremely close match with the fifth set ending 17-15.

RE: WAC Volleyball 2019
CSU took Seattle to a fifth set but was unable to pull out the win. Looks like they will go winless in the WAC this season.
NMSU had a rough first two sets against CSUB but it looks like they got it back under control and are cruising in the fourth set. Should be a win for them putting them at 13-0. Looks like they may run the table although they still need to play GCU (11-2) and UMKC (10-3).

Congrats to the Aggies on clinching the regular season championship. Is anyone keeping stats on how many regular season and tournament championships NMSU has clinched or won by defeating a GCU team? It feels like all of them. Hats off to Super Mario, coaches, athletics staff, student-athletes, and Aggie Nation on building and sustaining one helluvan athletics department. Nothing but absolute respect for the job you've all done.

It does seem that many of NMSU's success since the addition of GCU have come at the expense of GCU.

Congrats to the Aggies, congrats to Chicago St and Congrats to KC. They have made it a very interesting chase for 2nd place with GCU. Both teams have made huge strides this season.

Quite the roller coaster ride for UVU. I would've liked to see them have some momentum going into tourney play in Orem. We've lost too many 5 set heartbreakers. Hopefully it can turn around for next week!

I agree that UVU has had a roller coaster season. Some very good games, then some really bad ones.

So, I am sorry that I missed the past few weeks. I was away from my computer.

WAC Volleyball tournament - will be on ESPN +
21 NOV
#6 Seattle vs #3 KC
#4 UTRGV vs #5 UVU

22 Nov
#3 KC/#6 Seattle vs #2 GCU
#4 UTRGV/#5 UVU vs #1 NMSU

23 Nov
Final

My guess is that KC and UVU win the first round matches. GCU gets by KC. NMSU defeats UVU. NMSU wins the conference tournament.

No need to apologize. Great job keeping this up all season, as it was very appreciated!

One thing that made me nervous was seeing GCU Freshman setter Klaire Mitchell in a walking boot after Saturday's match when the team was honors during MBB game for clinching the #2 seed. She's been an incredible addition to the team, and GCU fans will be lucky to watch her for 3 more years.

You called the first round right. Sad finish to the UTRGV season, losing to a #5 seed in straight sets.

Congrats to the Aggies 27-3. But I think the season showed improvement overall in the league. Megan Hart will be one of the big holes the Aggies will need to fill next season.
