RE: Kent State @Toledo....Beginning of midweek #MACtion!!
Y'all played well. Toledo isn't as explosive as in years past, so this game went pretty much just as I thought.
Crum has the worst looking ball I've seen at the D1 level, but somehow it goes exactly where it's supposed to go. That thing has more air under it than, uh, something with a lot of air under it. He is also pretty shifty for his size and style of running.
I love your coach as he has your guys playing hard. The hands to the face on our QB which overturned an Int was an effort play. That's teachable.
Y'all will be front runners in the East next season, when you will really see those recruiting classes matter.

+1
I'm with you here but our run defense is likely to end up costing us more games - I believe both Buffalo and Ball State have strong rushing attacks. I like our staff but I think I would tinker with 5 down linemen on D.

I hated this play call and he 2 pt conversion play, We played well on offense, no run stoppers up front is killing us. KSU is close, they have to learn to win the close games. It will come.

The timeout before the 2 pt play call bothered me. You had to know you were going for two if you scored. But whatever, it was an exciting game.
RE: Kent State @Toledo....Beginning of midweek #MACtion!!
When playing the stronger teams, there are limited adjustments that we can do. Face it, we are undersized at the d-line and backers. Of course the ideal is to be strong at both positions, but if we are weak on the d-line, we would hope to have exceptional line backers. This can go strong d-line and medium backers and adjustments can be tried. We are at the point of having too few play makers on the line and at the backers. Few adjustments can be made with this model. We did make an adjustment after the half and did better but we are still limited. Toledo just happens to be one of the better teams with their o-line, thus we have a big problem. Given our tools, our team played with big hearts and was competitive. We just have to stronger in the trenches. Look to the future as usual with us. Do not ever give up.
RE: Kent State @Toledo....Beginning of midweek #MACtion!!
I look forward to the day when Kent State can go into an OU or Toledo and get a fair shake from the refs. That fumble on Will Matthews was a joke and the pass interference on Toledo’s final scoring drive was even worse. The roughing the passer call was soft as hell and changed the game. They even stopped the game to try and bang us for targeting but replay didn’t allow it. It’s a shame. It’s like the MAC instructs the crews before the game who is supposed to win.

UT has traditionally won with a big and experienced O line - I recall a few years back they had 4 or 5 seniors - I figured the next year we had a chance but it didn't happen. We're getting closer and as been stated the team played with heart just need to catch a few breaks and get some size on D.

This is a bad take... Those refs weren't game changing at all.
Roughing the passer call went at the QBs head late and with force. It wasn't like an NFL play where the QB gets touched, he smoked Peters down to the ground. They reviewed it because plays at players head and neck area are automatically reviewed...
8:40
We fumbled once without getting touched, and fell down and left your WR 25 yards from any player. Feel blessed to lose by 2.

This absolutely has to be a joke right? The long td was a lame duck sure, but it seemed like a smart pass. His receiver had no one near him so just lob it up there and give him an easy grab. Other than that I don't recall any bad looking throws... Certainly not "the worst at the D1 level". You sure would think the guy that throws the worst looking ball in D1 wouldn't have 1 INT 9 games into the season...

I was giving him a compliment. I watched the game vs. Ohio as well. He puts a ton of air under it, and the balls fly in an unconventional way to their target, but they are VERY MUCH on target. He has a good completion percentage and TD/INT ratio. Bravo.

I thought that play was absolutely ridiculous and made no sense. Took us out of FG range and swung momentum. Almost as dumb as that trick play in the MACC years ago. I was ok with the 2 pt. conversion, except I thought they should’ve went for it on the previous TD.

That targeting call was just plain dumb and unnecessary, I didn’t think it would be overturned based on seeing so few flipped this season.

That same wide open WR dropped a gimmee and the QB came within inches and falling properly on a 2 point conversion. The #1 RB and #1 WR didn’t play. Feel blessed to win by 2.

I do. We held a 14 point lead early and escaped.
We gave up two 50 yard hail Mary completions that fell a yard short at each half to beat Colorado State.
We were up 17 at half vs. WMU and blew that big lead.
We also had a 21 point 4th qtr lead over EMU and they missed a chip shot to win.
It's a blessing to be 5-0 in one score games.

Eh, no. 38% from the field, 45% FT? It doesn't go in nearly often enough.
