The winner of the LSU/Alabama game needs to lose the SEC Championship game. That could exclude both Alabama and LSU and the call to expand the playoffs will be on.

If Alabama loses at home to LSU and doesn't lose again, they'll have 1 loss.

And, provided that LSU would win out, but lose the SEC championship game, they could have 1 loss....most likely to Georgia.

If Georgia, LSU and 'Bama all have 1 loss, my money says that Bama and Georgia go to the CFP and LSU is royally hosed.

Georgia is going to win the SEC East. It's pretty much guaranteed that the SEC West winner will end up undefeated barring any sort of shocker. Even if that surprise loss were to happen, the SEC West representative would only have 1 loss. That would be two 1 loss teams playing, so the champion would only have a single loss. The CFP committee has and would again put a single loss SEC champion into the playoffs.

Bama loses to Auburn
Georgia loses to Georgia Tech
then
Georgia beats Bama

The loser of the AL/LSU game could make the final 4 if its a close game that comes down to the final few plays and the winner beats GA in the SEC championship game.

Yep. The SEC is all but guaranteed a spot and possibly 2 if the playoff committee can find a way to do so.

What needs to happen is for conferences to consistently keep getting left out.

Possibly. It would depend on what happened in the Pac 12

Its going to be hard for any conference to get two in this year. Oregon will get in as 1 loss conference champ. Baylor is lurking. Minnesota, Penn St, and Ohio State all have to play things out. It would take mass chaos for SEC to get 2. The conference that looks like it could get the shaft this year is Big 12

I think that would be great to happen to the Big 12. Ha, Ha, Ha.

Baylor wins out as does Clemson and Ohio State then some really good teams are out. I think the Pac 12 for sure is going to push for an expanded playoff. Their TV numbers are going down because they are no longer seen as a conference that will have a team in the playoff. Our TV numberslast Saturday were in par with theirs. Contracts are driven my numbers and the only big numbers are ND, SEC and Big !0. The American is working its way to equal TV ratings as the other P5's. We should want expansion of the playoff more than conference realignment. We get a spot in the playoff system and all the teams in the American are in a better position than the non power teams in the SEC and the Big 10.
