Your NY6 Today
If you were in charge of the CFP rankings (and made defendable decisions), what would your NY6 bowls looks like right now? This is not intended to include projections but as of today. No need to include rankings beyond the top 4 unless you choose.

Here’s mine:

CFP Peach Bowl: #1 LSU vs #4 Penn St
CFP Fiesta Bowl: #2 Ohio St vs #3 Alabama

NY6 Rose Bowl: Oregon vs Minnesota
NY6 Orange Bowl: Clemson vs Florida
NY6 Sugar Bowl: Georgia vs Oklahoma
NY6 Cotton Bowl: Baylor vs Memphis

I think the CFP would take a huge hit if only two conferences were represented.

1 LSU vs. 4 OK
2 Ohio St. vs. 3 Clemson

Rose: Oregon vs. Penn St.
Orange: Wake Forest vs. Florida
Sugar: Georgia vs. Baylor
Cotton: Minnesota vs. Memphis

In the very first CFP rankings ever, 3 SEC schools (Mississippi St, Auburn, and Mississippi) we’re ranked plus Florida St.

A very specific chain of events would have to happen but this is completely plausible:

Clemson loses a game—taking the ACC out of the playoff running

Oklahoma and Baylor split their two game series (bears win the reg season game, sooners win the CCG) leaving Oklahoma 11-2 and Big 12 champs and Baylor 12-1

Utah defeats Oregon in the PAC 12 CCG

Alabama and Penn St of course would need to be one loss teams and kept things really close with the CCG winners.

As impotent as the ACC is this year, no way are they putting a 1-loss SEC team in over an undefeated Clemson.

Too early to tell. My top 4 currently is Ohio State, Bama, LSU and Penn State in that order, with Clemson and Baylor next up. But hard to not think of those 2 upcoming matchups as elimination games. I guess, my list would be

CFP Peach Bowl: #1 Ohio State vs #4 Oklahoma
CFP Fiesta Bowl: #2 LSU vs #3 Clemson

NY6 Rose Bowl: Utah vs Penn State
NY6 Orange Bowl: Georgia vs Minnesota
NY6 Sugar Bowl: Alabama vs Baylor
NY6 Cotton Bowl: Oregon vs Boise State

You are missing the ACC rep. Won't the orange bowl potentially get an unranked ACC team?

You are correct, the ACC will have a team in the Orange Bowl regardless of whether Clemson makes the CFP and regardless of ranking. That is by contract.

Even if say Clemson makes the CFP and there are no other ranked ACC teams, the ACC will send a team to the Orange Bowl to play the highest ranked available team among the SEC, B1G, and Notre Dame.

That rule slipped my mind. I guess that would knock Oregon out of Cotton Bowl and shift Minnesota there, and then put Wake Forest in the Orange Bowl.

As of now it would be getting Clemson. Its most likely getting a 10-11 win Wake Forest team ranked between 16 and 25

According to the CFP it would be:

Peach: ...... Alabama vs LSU

Fiesta ....... Ohio State vs Penn State

Orange ..... Clemson vs Florida

Rose ........ Oregon vs Wisconsin

Sugar ...... Georgia vs Oklahoma

Cotton...... Cincinnati vs Utah

Good games, LOL, I'd watch them.

I saw these matchups but would Ohio St, as the top seed, choose the Fiesta over the Peach? That seems counterintuitive.

I assume they would, because they have more familiarity with it - they have played in the Fiesta Bowl twice in the last four years, whereas they probably haven't played in Atlanta in forever. And Penn State would travel even farther to get there.

But of course they might go the other way with it and pick Atlanta.

I think a 9-4 Virginia gets the Orange Bowl bid.

Not really. The committee doesn’t do projections. They base their rankings, allegedly, on the information we have up to this point. This activity is intended to make you the sole member of the committee. How would you do it week-to-week based upon the body of work up until this point?

I don't see UC winning @Memphis if that is what it ends up being. We would play @Memphis 2 weeks in a row who knows.

Ohio State will take the Fiesta Bowl 95% of the time. The only time they would take the Peach bowl is if they were playing Oregon. Ohio State wouldn't want to give a home game to an SEC school in the Peach Bowl.
