There’s no need for him to redshirt. None whatsoever. He’s already been graded by the NFL so everything from here on out is showing them that he’s healthy
If he doesn't play this year then that will hurt his stock.
There’s too much tape on the guy. His stock is his stock. He he was likely 4-6 last year. And if he comes out this year he will be 4-6. I want what’s best for him. He’s been a great Tiger. No reason for him at this point to come back.
Right now the only Tiger listed in any mock drafts is Carter in teh 5th round. Johathan Taylor has droipped to 2nd round in many mock drafts.

Watch out for Gibson. The NFL loves them some 220-pound receivers/backs.
And he absolutely looked like a pro last night

Yeah. He did.
Does Norvell have an eye for talent, or what?

RE: Patrick Taylor Jr. status?
My OPINION only. I don't know anybody on the street, in the locker room, or even a concession operator.
With the redshirt rule, I don't expect to see Patrick Taylor back until the Cincinnati game. Then he will have 3 games (Cincinnati, Championship, and Bowl) to go with his Ole Miss game. If the NFL interest isn't high in the off-season, he can claim his redshirt and come back in 2020. If NFL interest is high, then he will be gone and making money.
Just my opinion.

Best opinion yet, except I'd go with USF, Cincinnati, championship. By then he'll know where he stands and can waste his redshirt or not in the Cotton Bowl.

I disagree. If he is only going to play 4 games he might as well play the last 3.

Yep. We won't need him in the USF game.

RE: Patrick Taylor Jr. status?
Norvell says Taylor is ready to roll.
Does he forget redshirting and help us get to the Cotton Bowl?
Does he pick 3 games and hope we get to the Cotton Bowl without him available every game and come back next season?
I have now decided he should forget the redshirt and help us make the Cotton Bowl, the more reps he gets the better he'll be. We have a real chance.
Next season...who knows...Brady gets hurt...Norvell leaves...he gets hurt again. I say its now or never.

There is an old adage that a starter does not lose their starting job due to injury.
But how could you justify starting Taylor when Gainwell has produced such numbers?
Do you move Gainwell out in the slot or go with 2 backs or just bring Taylor off the bench?

I'm no football coach, but I think even I could find a way to play Coxie, Taylor and Gainwell at the same time.

RE: Patrick Taylor Jr. status?
PT has practiced for 2 weeks now. This is an open week, so he'll have 3 before Houston. I suspect he will be ready and we'll see him then. He can show the NFL all he needs to show down the stretch without waiting for an evaluation and putting a 5th year into college. Plus he's a competitor and is chomping to get back at there. I offered up the redshirt idea early in the season, but now it's obvious to me that he should just forget that. Put everything into this season and improving your stock for the draft.
As for playing both him and KG, Norvell will figure it out. Turned out okay for DH, PT, and TP last year. I suspect with KG's versatility, you will see slot and wildcat packages for him. What about KG running the option with PT?

I think he is at the point where he has to go out and prove something at the end of the season and can’t just try to coast to an NFL roster spot. Let’s face it, at this point, he has become an afterthought to this team— he will need to climb tooth and nail to regain relevancy to both the team and NFL scouts, who no doubt would be cautious to take someone coming off months of injury and a rumored surgery . I think he does it against Houston and retakes the starting spot.

I could easily justify it.. Gainwell is a freshman. Taylor needs his time to have a shot at the NFL. I am sure Gainwell (someone with NFL aspirations) can understand that, and respect it. Gainwell has 2 more seasons of spotlight. That is assuming he goes out after his junior year, which he should if he is running like he is now.

He is definitely not an after thought. With him we are undefeated. We probably wouldn't have beat ole miss without him.
