Army now 3-5 with 2 FBS victories, after an upset-loss at home to San Jose State. UMass and VMI should be gimmes, but @Air Force and @Hawaii looking doubtful. Plus the Navy game.

Remember when some were touting Army as a credible team?

It’s not looking like Army is going bowling this year.
3-5. Still @Air Force @Hawaii and the Navy game to go.

RE: Non Bowl Eligible teams
After Week 10, there are 17 schools who can not reach the 6 qualifying wins needed to assure bowl eligibility. They are:
Kansas
Rutgers
Northwestern
Arkansas
UConn
East Carolina
Tulsa
New Mexico
UNLV
Akron
Old Dominion
UTEP
Rice
South Alabama
UMass
New Mexico State
Army
It's hard to tell where to put Missouri at the moment. They are banned from postseason play, but have appealed. Until the result of that appeal is announced, they could play in a bowl if they are otherwise qualified. As yet the NCAA has still not given the Tigers their decision.
After Week 10 last year there were 24 teams ineligible and 48 already eligible. Currently, 42 teams have reached the six qualifying win threshold. In Week 11 a total of 17 schools could become eligible, while 7 face elimination.

After losing to Bowling Green, we don't DESERVE to go to a Bowl game, even if we met the requirement, or got there based on APR......

This is informative, granted, but "unable to assure eligibility" and not "being eligible" are two different things. We know that in some years, teams with 5 wins have gone to bowls if slots need to be filled. Also, IIRC, a team that wins its conference can go to a bowl even if it has less than six overall wins. So if any of these teams are still in the hunt for their conference title they might be still alive for a bowl.
IIRC, only the PAC has passed a rule saying you must have 6 qualifying wins to play in a bowl, it has ruled any of its schools with less than that ineligible for the process of filling slots with 5-win teams based on APR that occurs when spots need to be filled.
And while the last couple years there has been the opposite problem - too many eligible teams for the available slots, meaning some eligible teams have missed bowls, this year looks like we will have some conferences not filling all their slots, such that a couple 5-win teams will go to a bowl.

By this logic RUTGERS IS STILL BOWL ELIGIBLE. Thanks Quo. I have something to look forward to until Saturday November 16th when Ohio State rolls into SHI Stadium. Hope Rutgers gets a chance to fire the cannon then too.

"Non Bowl Eligible" isn't about probabilities, it's about absolutes. Rutgers probably has about a 1 in 5000 chance of going to a bowl right now. But as long as their chance is greater than zero, they are not officially Non Bowl Eligible.

What am I missing with Army? They have 4 games left, if they win out they're 7-6

Yes I like that probability angle especially with Ohio State, Michigan State, and Penn State left on the schedule for Rutgers.

They should not be in the eliminated category - I think he missed that Army is playing 13 games this year, but did correctly note they are playing 2 FCS teams.
Had they not been playing 13 games, they would indeed be eliminated now since they couldn't reach 6 countable wins. As it is, they have to win out to be eligible.
