RE: Laughable Scores - 2019 Football - Week 10
I'm giving Rutgers a high five! I was sure Illinois would be up by 25 at halftime. Says a lot about a team that doesn't quit and I didn't see any quit in Rutgers in that 1st half. Now, the 2nd half could be a different story, we shall see.

That's true for Nebraska and at least a couple dozen other P5 teams.
Urban Meyer used to tell coaches he was interviewing for assistant coaching jobs that even if a coach is great at coaching players, if he can't recruit top players, then he's not helping the team win. And that's right. There is no coaching or strategy good enough to consistently win 8 or more games with talent that is average or below average compared to the rest of your conference.

The South Carolina call a week ago was bad but I passed it off as poor officiating (something just 2 years ago that was pretty solid). I didn't complain abut the lack of holding calls in the Auburn / Florida game because it involved my team but Florida stretched our DL's jerseys from behind all game long with no holding calls except on two special teams plays and then against Auburn.
Now I don't care who wins between Florida and Georgia but that 7 points was a gift plain and simple.
Yes, that Georgia pass was obviously incomplete. Unreal that the replay upheld it as a catch.

It's a mix of both coaching and recruiting. Chryst, Ferentz and Peterson all do so much more with so much less.
I could name at least a 8 schools with all these so called great recruits who haven't done squat. Just go back to 2015 until 2019 and look at recruiting classes and you'll see them all listed there.

It's true that a team with poor coaching and great recruiting can underachieve. Happens often.
But the coaches you mentioned always have above-average talent, even though they don't have Ohio State/Alabama talent.
Nebraska doesn't even have an Iowa or Wisconsin level of talent.

Wow, looks like Notre Dame really is going to give the game to Virginia Tech.
Irish obviously superior but have made about every red zone mistake you can make today.

What was billed as a lousy day of football has been a very entertaining day.

Nah, It could be viewed as him having possession before it hit the ground. Right call on the review was stands. If it was called incomplete it also stands. Probably would be called incomplete 2/3 of the time.

I don't see how anyone can possibly say he had control before it hit the ground. Plain as day he didn't. He didn't gain control after it hit the ground and he tumbled over.

saw laughable stat for this weekend. First time AP 1,2,3 ranked teams off on the same weekend since 1996.

Cincy beats ECU .... 46-43.
Sad, as ECU outplayed Cincy. A whopping 35 first downs and 640 yards. But ECU was hammered with penalties and Cincy got the lucky pick-6 and survived.
