I don’t have to ask. Marshall historically has just never done well in computer rankings 03-wink

I don't get why a blowout win over sacks allowed leader ODU gets UAB a huge bump, but congrats to them (ODU had given up 27 going into that matchup)

SP+ doesn't like Tech or CUSA, but finally put Tech in top tier (#2 to UAB), we were #8 last week.

Paul Myerberg's USA Today and Massey Composite both have Tech on Top.

I don't know why Marshall hasn't supplanted FAU this week, so please don't ask...

Louisiana Tech is only program in CUSA with votes in AP Poll (2) and one of two in Coaches (7 for Tech, 1 for UAB). Good job UAB.

WKU has the head-2-head win over UAB, but the FCS loss is undoubtedly weighing them down in the composite. Massey has them over UAB, but not other 2.

my guess is margin of victory plays into some of those rankings. Western's offense is not going to grade very well. The defense will help in keeping the opponent under their avg but offense is probably slanted higher to gain more points...

just a guess

We listened all off season how good North Texas was going to be from all of their fans this offseason....I guess most just thought we had the NCaA equivalent of the Patriots this season ..I didn’t listen but I guess the more posts they more you believe..

This week's rankings (I didn't see a new thread). Three pretty clear tiers.

Some CUSA-Power Rankings, including in-state schools and non-UTA OOC,

AVERAGE of USA Today (Paul Myerberg), SP+ (Bill Connelly), and Massey Composite (parenthesis has them in order).

4. Marshall (62, 90, 60) 72.67 +2 (+10)

5. SoMiss (64, 89, 76) 75.33 # (+3)

6. WKU (69, 87, 77) 77.67 -3 (-6)

Tier 2

A favorable non-conference schedule and they brought back their seasoned QB. I was thinking they would at worst finish 10-2 in the regular season. Losing their OC really hurt them too.

Biggest change for me has been the regression of their defense.

Them losing their OC has hurt them and its funny because they thought their OC was the reason they were losing games.

UNT still has postseason to play for. UTEP and Rice should be wins. It would be riotously funny for UNT to beat La Tech, but I don't see it happening. Their home finale versus UAB would have to be win #6.

Yeah, that's not gonna happen chief. At least Fine will know better than to throw the ball in Amik Robertson's area code though.

USM 45 > UNT 27

I don't think UNT will beat Tech, but never underestimate Holtz's ability to have a WTF game. It is plausible and therefore possible. I also don't think Tech is as good as our record or UNT as bad as theirs.

Yeah you better believe that can happen especially after a week off. Holtz better have the players focused and ready for a tough stretch UNT, UAB and Marshall. Tech can lose all 3 or win out, hopefully the latter

The common denominator is that the winner of those two games were at home, and Tech is at home vs UNT. UNT did sneak a 1-2 pt win two years ago, but that was the worst year, performance/results-wise, by Tech since 2013. I'm hoping we'll continue the streak against a regressed UNT team, but that's why you play the game 03-wink

There's nothing more dangerous than a talented team --like UNT-- licking its wounds and looking for some way to salvage something good from a otherwise disappointing season. Make no mistake, LA Tech will be UNT's Super Bowl game next week, as the Mean Green tries to pick up the pieces of a bad season......

I'm telling ya, LA Tech better bring its' "A" game to this one.....
