Nicole gets the final kill. Owls win 3rd set 25-20 and match 3-0.

Tougher match than some of their recent matches. Way to hang tough and get the sweep Owls!

Marshall had a commentator at the game and did a good job. Why doesnt Rice have a commentator when they play on the Conf USA network. Really looks bad.

When a sweep is a tough match, you've got a pretty good team.

RE: VB in conference play
13th sweep in 18 matches played. 17 - 1 overall record, 6-0 in CUSA. And our consecutive set/game streak has now been extended to 22 sets and counting (since the final set vs. UT).

Nicole with 23 kills and 14 digs, Adekunle with 13 kills, Cunningham with 24 digs

On the negative side, the team only recorded 5 blocks and we accumulated 26 attack errors for a relatively poor .179 hit percentage.

Onward and upward. LaTech next on Sunday afternoon in Rustin.

Also women’s soccer remains undefeated in conference play as well!

That’s at least 31 consecutive conference games in those three sports without a loss! (Including the WBB conference tournament)

34 GAMES including last years VB conf tournament. Our last CUSA loss in those three sports was Nov. 10 of last year, a 49-week streak!

On the flip side, football is an almost incomprehensible 1-16 in its last 17 conference games. In a bad conference.

Although, for context, we have to have the highest ratio among D1 of winning percentage in those three women’s sports as compared to our three biggest men’s sports over the past two or three years(!!)

Cool, thanks for the reminder in a women’s sports thread.

It was a volleyball thread until someone brought in other sports. I did the same.

RE: VB in conference play
We're #16 in Massey ratings currently. And that's about where I think we should be in the AVCA poll tomorrow (assuming we win today at Louisiana Tech who is really struggling now). The two teams directly ahead of us in last week's poll (Illinois and Utah) both are looking at 0-2 weeks this week - they've had rough schedules with Illinois facing Wisconsin and Minnesota, and Utah facing Cal and Stanford. But still, I don't know how you can rank a 9-8 Illinois team ahead of Rice at this point (Massey has Illinois #23 for example). The SEC is still getting too much credit in the AVCA poll too, but that's just a factor of how that poll is conducted.

San Diego is a team that should crack the top 25 after beating BYU in 5 Friday night in Utah (they should replace Missouri).

8-3 Rice now, and time for a LaTech time-out. Great start!

Rice’s 8-3 run opens up a narrow 13-10 lead. Timeout Tech.
Nice to break up a pretty long stretch where the teams were playing pretty even.
